City police: Man, 58, fights off two masked males

He says men fled in white Cadillac after trying to force him to enter his home

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERACoatesville Police responded to the 400 block of Valley Road on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 4:15 p.m. for an attempted home invasion, Officer Paul Antonucci reported. The 58-year-old victim said while he was outside his residence, a white Cadillac pulled up and two young black males wearing ski masks got out of the back seat and approached him, police said.

The victim said the males tried to get him to go into his residence, but he was able to fight them off, and the men fled in the same Cadillac, police said, adding that an investigation is continuing. Police were dispatched to the unit block of Brooks Lane on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2:43 a.m. for a domestic assault, Officer Joseph Norcini reported. Police said they made contact with the victim, who had minor injuries and stated that Derrick Peoples, 31, of Coatesville, had inflicted them. Police said assault charges were filed against Peoples, who had left the residence prior to officers’ arrival.

A traffic stop on Friday, Jan. 31, at 9:42 a.m. in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street led to two arrests, Officers Paul Antonucci and Guy Bruchstein reported. Daniel Vonhacht, 26, and Stacey Davis, 31, both of Coatesville, each had active warrants and were taken into custody without incident, police said.

Mackenzie Chambers, 33, of Coatesville, was taken into custody on Friday, Jan. 31, at 9:28 p.m. on charges of simple assault, Officer Carmen Mollichella reported. The arrest following a domestic dispute in which Chambers allegedly struck the victim in the face, causing a black eye, police said.

Demetrius Dixon, a 43-year-old, homeless Coatesville resident, was taken into custody after police responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 3:09 p.m., Officer Paul Antonucci reported. Dixon, who was intoxicated to a degree that he was a danger to himself and others, also had several warrants, police said.

Coatesville Police assisted West Sadsbury Township officers with a warrant service for retail theft on Daja Dunn, 20, of Coatesville, Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported. Dunn was taken into custody on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 9:15 p.m. in the unit block of Palmer Avenue, police said.

Police responded to the 400 block of East Lincoln Highway for an assault on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 6:57 p.m., Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported. Police said the combatants were two male juveniles who were cited for disorderly conduct.

Darren Phillips Jr., 31, of Coatesville, will be charged with aggravated assault after police responded to the 100 block of Harlan Drive on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 9:57 p.m., Officer Joseph Norcini reported. The victim, who was evaluated by medics for marks on the neck and upper chest, said Phillips, who left prior to officers’ arrived, choked her to the point that she lost consciousness, police said.
