The familiar ChescoBus will again be seen on Saturdays, starting this week.

The Transportation Management Association of Chester County (TMACC) announced today that CHESCOBUS, Chester County’s Public transportation system, will restore Saturday service on SCCOOT and Coatesville LINK bus routes starting Saturday, Oct. 10.

“We are very excited to make this announcement.”  said Executive Director of TMACC, P. Timothy Phelps.

Early July of this year, TMACC had to eliminate Saturday service because of a reduction in match grant funding.  “It was a hard announcement to make.” TMACC’s Transportation and Operations Planner, John Meisel said, “People are reliant on public transportation to get to work, school, medical appointments-taking away their service was a major disappointment for us.”

Last month at a ceremony in Coatesville, the Chester County Commissioners announced the investment of over $130,000 for CHESCOBUS, which made it possible for TMACC to restore Saturday service.

“It is woven into the daily lives of those who depend on the bus.  We couldn’t let a significant amount of match funding from the State slip away.” Commissioner Michelle Kichline said.

“TMACC appreciates the ongoing support from the Chester County Commissioners.  We are looking forward to continuing this partnership in future years to bring reliable service to the residents of Chester County” stated Phelps.

Saturday service will be available on both SCCOOT and Coatesville LINK bus routes beginning Saturday, October 10, 2015.  Thanks to the help of SEPTA’s planning department, TMACC was able to increase efficiency of the buses and add bus runs to Saturday.  To view the new Saturday service, please visit www.chescobus.com

CHESCOBUS is a service managed by TMACC comprised of two bus lines-SCCOOT and Coatesville LINK.  Coatesville LINK operates Monday through Saturday from Coatesville to Parkesburg and SCCOOT operates Monday through Saturday from Oxford to Kennett Square with limited stops to West Chester.
