Marching Red Raiders to host competition

Coatesville is one of 18 bands that will perform Saturday

The Marching Red Raiders of Coatesville will perform in exhibition on Saturday during their 22nd Annual Cavalcade of Bands Showcase” “Steel City -Battle of the Bands.”

Drum roll, please: The Marching Red Raiders of Coatesville and the Coatesville Parents’ Music Club, Inc. will present their 22nd Annual Cavalcade of Bands Showcase “Steel City -Battle of the Bands” on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 4 p.m.

The showdown among talented area high-school ensembles will be held in the Coatesville Memorial Stadium, 1425-45 East Lincoln Highway.  The national anthem will be sung at 4:15 p.m., followed by performances from 17 marching bands, an exhibition at 9:15 p.m. by the Coatesville Marching Red Raiders – a third-place finisher at their last competition – and an awards ceremony.

Vying for top honors will be bands from the following high schools: Ephrata, Haverford, Penn Wood, Phoenixville, Sun Valley, Milton Hershey, Rustin, Cheltenham, Kennett, Marple Newtown, Mt. Pleasant, Pottsgrove, Souderton, Avon Grove, Boyertown, Cocalico and Downingtown West.

Tickets, which will be available at the door, are $10 for adults, and $8 for students and senior citizens. Parking is free, and refreshments will be available for purchase. Show times are subject to change, and the event will be held rain or shine.  For more information visit www.cvillepmc.org.
