City police: 3 strong-arm robberies reported Sunday

Four assailants allegedly injured two men, stealing total of $120 cash

IMG_0874On Sunday, Nov. 10, between the hours of 10 and 11 p.m. Coatesville Police were dispatched to three different strong-arm robbery calls, Officers Kirt Guyer and Joseph Norcini reported. In all three incidents, the alleged actors were three black males and one white, possibly Hispanic, male between the ages of 17 to 20, all dressed in dark-colored hooded sweatshirts, police said.

In one incident in the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway, the four men attempted to snatch a purse from an elderly female, but were unsuccessful, police said. In the 200 block of West Diamond Street, they struck a man in the head, causing a large lump, before grabbing his wallet with a Pa. driver’s license, credit cards and $100 cash; a cell phone; and a pocket knife, police said. The third robbery in the 800 block of East Lincoln Highway resulted in an attack on a man who was getting off of a bus; he was struck in the head and received a large laceration to his forehead during the theft of $20, police said.

The two male victims were transported by ambulance to Brandywine Hospital for treatment; anyone with information on any of these robberies is asked to call city police at 610-384-2300.

A traffic stop in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway on Friday, Nov. 8, at 7:45 p.m. led to a drunken-driving arrest, Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Police said Phillip E. Alder of Downingtown was pulled over after a dispatch about an erratic driver who had just been in Caln Township, police said.

Coatesville Police were dispatched to the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m., where they made contact with Saul Escobedo, 31, of Coatesville, who had a noticeable injury to his left arm, Officer Raymond Jaglowicz reported. Escobedo and witnesses stated that he was assaulted by a white male who fled the scene and was later located on South 10th Avenue, police said. When asked about his involvement, Anthony Marsillo, 51, of Coatesville, stated that Escobedo started a physical altercation by punching him twice in the face. Marsillo, who had visible injuries to his face, showed signs of intoxication and was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, police said, adding that Escobedo will be cited for disorderly conduct and harassment.

Coatesville Police were dispatched to the 200 block of West Lincoln Highway for a domestic disturbance on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 10:01 a.m., Officer Carmen Mollichella reported. Upon investigation, Jeffrey Harvey, 26, of Coatesville, who had fled prior to police arrival, was cited for harassment for shoving the victim, police said.

On Sunday, Nov. 10, Officer Raymond Jaglowicz responded at 2:34 p.m. to the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway for a criminal-mischief to automobiles complaint, police said. Two vehicle owners reported that their windshields were broken when someone threw a rock from Diamond Street into the parking lot, police said.

    I think I have seen that group of young punks walking thru town at night, they were talking loudly, knocking trash over and bending antennas on parked cars, probably the same ones doing the robbing, I’m going to pay attention to what they are wearing the next time I think I spot them.

      they case the 300 block of chestnut st and lumber st .
      make alot of noise, break things, dark hoodys .should be easy to catch. why dont they put out a sting ?? set them up ??draw them in with a fake old person ? really a cop ? you know ,, have some fun….
