Fisticuffs with city police reportedly elevate charges

Man wanted on warrants arrested for assault, other offenses

ImageA 50-year-old homeless man who resisted police efforts to take him into custody now faces new charges, Coatesville Police Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Police said on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 7:52 a.m., James R. Baron, who has several active warrants, fled from officers and then engaged in a fight with them. He was apprehended and charged with failure to comply with Meghan’s Law registration, assault, and related offenses, police said. Following arraignment, Baron was transported to Chester County Prison after failing to post $20,000 cash bail, police said.

On Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 2:40 p.m., police observed suspicious activity between two homes in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway, Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Police said they stopped two men, one of whom, Keith Hales, 26, of Coatesville, possessed apparent narcotics and appeared to be under the influence of them. Hales, who was processed and released, will be charged based upon the lab reports, police said.

Cpl. Jonathan Shave responded to the Rite Aid Pharmacy in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 5:19 p.m. for a reported retail theft, police said. Shave made contact with Amber Moore-Stenson, 30, of Coatesville, who was arrested on a bench warrant for failure to appear for driving under the influence charges, police said. Moore-Stenson was also charged with retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers founds $37 worth of stolen makeup and a crack pipe, police said.

Coatesville Police assisted constables in taking Brandon Smith, 34, address unknown, into custody in the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 3:16 p.m., Cpl. Jonathan Shave reported. Smith was wanted for domestic relations warrants, police said.

Police assisted the South Coatesville department with the arrest of Gorge L. Rosa, 59, of Modena, on Friday, Jan. 17, at 11:05 a.m. in the unit block of Woodland Avenue in Modena, Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Rosa, wanted on a bench warrant and two criminal warrants for driving under the influence, was remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post bail, police said.
