The hip, art-friendly, eco-minded Modena enclave known as MoGreena is inviting the public to attend its Second Annual Harvest Art Party on Wednesday from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The festivities will include displays from more than a dozen local artists, music by Sam Smick in the gardens, beer and wine tastings, hors d’oeuvres, and live demonstrations.

Anchored by Waste Oil Recyclers, an innovative company that turns used cooking oil into biofuel, the businesses in the tight-knit industrial park along the Brandywine include Fred’s Fine Cars, owned by mechanic Fred Sinton; and Organic Mechanics Potting Soil, a company started by former Longwood Gardens’ employee Mark Highland.

In addition, John Brandt-Lee and Christopher Conlon, of Philadelphia Custom Block & Board, work magic with wood, specializing in cutting boards, and Tom Breglia, an Organic Mechanics employee, transforms recycled materials into creative furniture and children’s toys.

Organizers have also promised “some interesting organic displays,” which might be worth seeing all by themselves. The festival also offers an ideal opportunity to check out the artistic additions to the compound, such as a spectacular wall mural painted this summer by a crew from the Brandywine Health Foundation’s ServiceCorps or the dramatic entranceway mosaic done by Sinton’s daughter, Annie Sinton. (And to reinforce the family atmosphere, her sister, Sarah Sinton, is doing the catering.)

Any artist interesting in joining the fun should contact Brenda brenda@wasteoilrecyclers.com as soon as possible.
