Celebrate Coatesville Day\u00a0took place on\u00a0Oct. 22<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Local kids had a blast at at the first annual Celebrate Coatesville Day<\/p><\/div>\n

COATESVILLE \u2014 The city came together for a day of music, games and celebration last Saturday at Ash Park for Celebrate Coatesville Day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A committee of nine local residents, headed by Judy Jones, organized the event after they came up with the idea based upon a popular \u201cYou Know You\u2019re from Coatesville When\u2026\u201d Facebook page.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe event came together nicely,\u201d said Judy. \u201cWe had a short amount of time to advertise but a lot of people from all age groups turned out.\u201d<\/p>\n

The day was packed full of activities including live musical performances from groups such as Untold Chaptez and Coatesville High School\u2019s Gospel Choir; pony rides, face painting, and fingerprinting and ID checking from New York Life. There was also a display of posters showcasing the different historical events that happened in the city.<\/p>\n

Kelly Stockard was one of the committee members who helped to organize the event.<\/p>\n

Pony rides was one of the activities guests enjoyed during Coatesville Day.<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019m originally from Coatesville and I moved back here from California two months ago. When I heard about the event, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to get on the committee,\u201d said Kelly. \u201cThe city has a lot of things that deserve to be recognized including its diversity, history and potential. I think the event helped to revive those values that have always been present in the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

All who attended the event had a blast, including cheerleaders from the local high school.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe event brought everybody together and made them realize that not everybody is as different as they think they are,\u201d stated Coatesville High School student Kylie Monko. \u201cMy favorite part about the event was getting to perform and just being a part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Because of the event, Ash Park received a little TLC from the committee members. All of the park\u2019s picnic tables were painted with paint donated by Sherwin Williams.<\/p>\n

Despite the weather not being as beautiful as it should have been for such a special day, Celebrate Coatesville Day was a huge success.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sun wasn\u2019t shining but the team spirit was,\u201d said Kelly.<\/p>\n
