Coatesville Area School Board continued with plans for implementing the Head Start preschool program with the Chester County Intermediate unit at the Gordon Early Literacy Center.<\/p><\/div>\n

CALN \u2013 The Coatesville Area School District continues to move forward with plans for the Head Start preschool program with the Chester County Intermediate Unit to be held at the Gordon building.<\/p>\n

The school board voted to approve the operation of the Gordon Early Literacy Center as an approved school that will operate four preschool classes within the CASD.<\/p>\n

The 200 series of policies that include enrollment and admission of students, withdrawal of students, eligibility of nonresident students, attendance, class rank, promotion and retention, immunizations and communicable diseases, HIV infection, health examinations and screenings, medications, food allergy management, etc. were adopted.<\/p>\n

Also discussed was putting together a panel of administrators, teachers, students and parents to discuss the policy of students\u2019 use of electronic devices in the classroom. Superintendent Dr. Cathy Taschner said she\u2019d like the panel to give a presentation at a school board meeting to propose changes to the policy.<\/p>\n

The school board officially voted upon the administration building\u2019s address at 3030 C.G. Zinn Road Thorndale, PA 19372. Also approved was the Coatesville Area Intermediate High School for 9th and 10th-grade students and the Coatesville Area Senior High School for 11th and 12th-grade students.<\/p>\n

Also approved were proposals with Johnson Controls to repair and maintain the chillers at the 9\/10 center, CASH, the Benner building and the administration building that are currently malfunctioning. The chiller at the Benner building was installed less than one year ago and the district is researching the warranty coverage for that unit.<\/p>\n

Of note: Tuesday\u2019s meeting was originally scheduled to take place at the 11\/12 auditorium but due to the chiller being down in that building, it was moved back to the 9\/10 center.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
