{"id":16280,"date":"2017-01-17T07:47:21","date_gmt":"2017-01-17T12:47:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=16280"},"modified":"2017-01-17T07:47:23","modified_gmt":"2017-01-17T12:47:23","slug":"dinniman-downingtown-to-get-900k-for-trails-sidewalks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=16280","title":{"rendered":"Dinniman: Downingtown to get $900K for trails, sidewalks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DowningtownBorough.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2963\" src=\"http:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DowningtownBorough-310x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"310\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>State Senator Andy Dinniman announced last week\u00a0that Downingtown Borough will receive $916,600 in federal funding to install a new trail and sidewalks.<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) grant will be used to install a 10-foot-wide multi-use trail along Woodbine Avenue and 6-foot-wide sidewalk along a portion of Lincoln Highway.<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">These funds come in addition to the $235,000 in state funding that the borough was awarded in December for the Woodbine Road Multi-Use Trail. That funding came t<\/span><span class=\"s2\">hrough Act 89 of 2013, Pennsylvania\u2019s Comprehensive Transportation Funding Plan.<\/span> <span class=\"s2\">The project calls for the installation of streetscapes and a walking and biking trail along Woodbine Road to serve residents and pedestrians and<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThis funding is another major boost for a project that will make Downingtown more walkable and <\/span><span class=\"s2\">add to the community\u2019s already-popular and growing trail system,\u201d Dinniman said.<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century, the 2012 federal transportation authorization act known as MAP-21, introduced fundamental changes to the administration of local programs, including those that had existed as separate programs in SAFETEA-LU, the previous authorization act.
