Held in Roanoke, Virginia on May 6<sup>th<\/sup> and May 7<sup>th<\/sup>, thousands of supporters were in attendance as the Downingtown-native clinched 4<sup>th<\/sup> place in the TCG Seniors Division.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Along with the coveted top finish, Sydney also secured valuable Championship Points that count toward a potential invite to the 2017 Pok\u00e9mon World Champions in Anaheim, CA this August. With more than 1,000 players competing for a portion of up to $50,000 in cash prizes, scholarships and merchandise, the Roanoke Pok\u00e9mon Regional Championships is one of only 16 regional-level tournaments taking place across North America this season and are a critical step on the year-long journey to earn an invitation to the Pok\u00e9mon World Championships.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom inspiring displays of sportsmanship to creative new TCG and video game strategies, the 2017 Pok\u00e9mon Regional Championships have been some of the most compelling and competitive tournaments of the season,\u201d said J.C. Smith, senior director of Consumer Marketing for The Pok\u00e9mon Company International. \u201cThank you to all of the players for their participation and a special congratulations to the top finishers, best of luck as you progress through the season!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each year, the Pok\u00e9mon Organized Play tournament series draws hundreds of thousands of Pok\u00e9mon players to compete at various local league events and sanctioned tournaments throughout North America. Players of all ages and skill levels in good standing are encouraged to participate in Play! Pok\u00e9mon tournaments, including Premier Challenge and Midseason Showdown events new to the 2016-2017 season.
