Byerly has worked in Caln&#8217;s police department, four years in the top post.<\/p>\n<p>Now the man who advanced in the ranks to chief in a township of about 14,000 residents has been placed on paid administrative leave.<\/p>\n<p>Township Manager Gregory E. Prowant said he could not discuss the reason.\u00a0&#8220;It&#8217;s a personnel issue; I can&#8217;t discuss specifics,&#8221; said Prowant. &#8220;All I can tell you is that he&#8217;s on paid administrative leave.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Prowant said that he was not aware of any timetable for the action. He said the department&#8217;s supervisory duties are being handled by \u00a0Lt.
