{"id":23753,"date":"2019-03-07T14:30:12","date_gmt":"2019-03-07T19:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=23753"},"modified":"2019-03-07T14:30:19","modified_gmt":"2019-03-07T19:30:19","slug":"obituary-william-brinton-parker-jr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=23753","title":{"rendered":"Obituary: William Brinton Parker, Jr."},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_9165\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/ObitPic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9165\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9165\" src=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/ObitPic-350x292.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"292\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-9165\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">William Brinton Parker, Jr.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>William Brinton Parker, Jr. of Kennent Square passed away peacefully on February 26.\u00a0 Mr. Parker is survived by his wife Barbara \u201cBobbie\u201d Collins.\u00a0 He was 89.\u00a0 Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late William Brinton Parker, Sr. and Naomi Cecelia Lodge.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Parker graduated from Westtown School in West Chester, PA and received a degree as an Electronic Engineer from Penn State University.\u00a0 He founded Applied Controls in 1969 which he ran for 21 years before retiring in 1990.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his five children, Dorothy \u201cDee\u201d Parker of Chadds Ford, Wayne Parker of Wallingford, Carol Stein (Andrew) of Springfield, Joan \u201cJoanie\u201d Hadik (John) of West Chester, and Sandra \u201cSandy\u201d Bieri (Andreas) of Sanibel, FL.\u00a0 He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Megan Stein, Naomi Stein, Rebecca Peleg (Asaf), Aaron Stein, Emily Hadik, and Noah Hadik, and two great grandchildren Eliana and Toren.\u00a0 Mr. Parker is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Geen and Mary \u201cMimi\u201d Steelman, and many nieces and nephews.\u00a0 He was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph Parker and Richard Parker.\u00a0 Mr. Parker is also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Lois Gibbons.<\/p>\n<p>Among Mr. Parker\u2019s passions were playing tennis, genealogy, Chester County history, and clocks.\u00a0 Mr. Parker was a Trustee for the Chester Counry Historical Society and donated countless hours of his time working there.\u00a0 He served as President of several property owners\u2019 associations in both Pennsylvania and Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Parker was a Trustee for Parkersville Meeting House in Parkersville, PA and worked at maintaining and preserving the property and the meeting house.\u00a0 He was an avid collector of clocks and watches and spent many hours restoring them.\u00a0 He was a former President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC).\u00a0 He also volunteered as a technology tutor at a local library in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>During the last year of his life, Mr. Parker published a book entitled <em>Parkersville: A Tiny But Busy Little Village In Chester County, Pennsylvania<\/em>.\u00a0 As he described it, \u201cA love for genealogy and Parkersville have kept me busy over the past thirty years, we\u2019ve compiled these people, stories, photos, spreadsheets and databases to share this compact history with you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Quaker style memorial service will be held on March 16, 2019 at 2pm at Kendal at Longwood, in the Auditorium. \u00a0Private interment will be at the Parkersville Meeting House cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Parker\u2019s name can be made to Parkersville Meeting House at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/william-parker-jr-memorial-fund\">www.gofundme.com\/william-parker-jr-memorial-fund<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>William Brinton Parker, Jr. of Kennent Square passed away peacefully on February 26.\u00a0 Mr. Parker is survived by his wife Barbara \u201cBobbie\u201d Collins.\u00a0 He was 89.\u00a0 Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late William Brinton Parker, Sr. and Naomi Cecelia Lodge.
