The Unionville High School Marching Band will perform its 2012 show “Baseball: An American Tradition,” during “March on the Brandywine.”<\/p><\/div>\n

Trumpeting family-friendly marching orders, the Unionville High School Marching Band promises an evening of musical excitement and pageantry for spectators at its Cavalcade of Bands on Oct. 20, an annual extravaganza featuring performers from 11 schools, including Shippensburg University.<\/p>\n

Held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at Unionville High School,\u00a0 \u201cMarch on the Brandywine\u201d will showcase nine high school bands and color-guard squads in friendly competition. Judges from the Cavalcade of Bands, Inc. will rate the bands for precision, creativity, musicality, and complexity. Participating high schools are West Chester East, Pottsgrove, Penn Manor, Great Valley, Sun Valley, Methacton, Mt. Pleasant, Kennett, and Coatesville.<\/p>\n

The Coatesville Area High School Marching Band will participate in “March on the Brandywine” on Oct. 20.<\/p><\/div>\n

After the competing bands have displayed their talents – Coatesville is scheduled to perform at 9 p.m. – the Unionville band will take the field to perform an exhibition of\u00a0 its 2012 show, \u201cBaseball: An American Tradition.” Its program will be followed by the precision marching, powerful music, and exciting color guard of the “Red Raider” Marching Band from Shippensburg University.\u00a0The evening concludes with an awards ceremony.<\/p>\n

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors, and free for ages 5 and under. Food will include Unionville\u2019s renowned \u201cband fries\u201d \u2013 freshly made from hand-cut potatoes \u2013 candy-grams, and more.
