{"id":26424,"date":"2020-02-20T09:09:26","date_gmt":"2020-02-20T14:09:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=26424"},"modified":"2020-02-20T09:09:29","modified_gmt":"2020-02-20T14:09:29","slug":"on-stage-hello-dolly-at-kimmel-center-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=26424","title":{"rendered":"On Stage: Hello Dolly! at Kimmel Center this week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN\"><strong>By Denny Dyroff<\/strong>, <\/span><em><span lang=\"EN\">Entertainment Editor, The Times<\/span><span lang=\"EN\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11188\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/carousel9_carolee-carmello-and-the-national-tour-company-of-hello-dolly-photograph-by-julieta-cervantes-2019.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11188\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11188\" src=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/carousel9_carolee-carmello-and-the-national-tour-company-of-hello-dolly-photograph-by-julieta-cervantes-2019-350x290.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"290\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11188\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hello Dolly!<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">It seems that everybody is familiar with \u201cHello Dolly!\u201d in one form or another \u2013 especially the Academy Award-winning film and the hit Broadway musical.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">It\u2019s hard not to be familiar with the song, \u201cHello Dolly!\u201d\u2013 at least with the tune\u2019s opening lines\u2026 \u201cI said hello, Dolly; Well, hello, Dolly; It\u2019s so nice to have you back where you belong.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">For the next week-and-a-half, there is an opportunity to get more familiar with the musical version of \u201cHello Dolly<\/span><span lang=\"EN\">!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The Kimmel Center is presenting \u201cHello Dolly<\/span><span lang=\"EN\">!\u201d now through March 1 at the Academy of Music (240 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kimmelcenter.org\/\">www.kimmelcenter.org<\/a>) as part of its Broadway Philadelphia series.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The cast of the National Tour features Carolee Carmello\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN\">as Dolly Gallagher Levi, John Bolton\u00a0(not that John Bolton) as Horace Vandergelder, Daniel Beeman\u00a0as Cornelius Hackl,Analisa Leaming\u00a0as Irene Molloy and Sean Burns\u00a0as Barnaby Tucker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Burns is familiar with his role having played it on the 2018-2019 and current editions of the National Tour.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cI was in there for a piece of the first tour,\u201d said Burns, during a recent phone interview from New York.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cI auditioned in early March last year on a Monday. They called me back on Wednesday and I took the role on Thursday. The nice part about replacing someone is that I got to watch the show for a few nights before I actually had to go on myself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cI was familiar with the story. I had seen the film before but not hadn\u2019t seen it performed live. \u2018Hello Dolly!\u2019 on stage only comes around so often.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cThe movie version is different because it gets to go to all the settings. The live version onstage isn\u2019t as realistic but there is something special about seeing it live.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cHello Dolly!\u201d tells the story of widow Dolly Gallagher Levi, a strong minded matchmaker who arrives in New York to \u201chelp\u201d Horace Vandergelder, a curmudgeonly, half-a-millionaire, widowed shop owner, find a new wife &#8212; while secretly plotting to marry him herself.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Meanwhile, two of Vandergelder\u2019s comedically-ridiculous employees leave the shop abandoned and head out to the city in an effort to find adventure. Often referred to as \u201cBroadway\u2019s Greatest Musical\u201d, \u201cHello, Dolly!\u201d features sweeping dance numbers, hilarious missteps, endearing chaos and, of course, love.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cHello, Dolly!\u201d is a 1964 musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart. It is based on Thornton Wilder\u2019s 1938 farce, \u201cThe Merchant of Yonkers,\u201d which Wilder revised and retitled \u201cThe Matchmaker\u201d in 1955.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cHello, Dolly!\u201d debuted at the <a title=\"Fisher Building\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fisher_Building\">Fisher Theater<\/a> in Detroit in 1963 and moved to Broadway in 1964, where it won 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The 10 Tony haul set a record which stood for 37 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The show album \u201cHello, Dolly! An Original Cast Recording\u201d was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. The album reached Number One on the Billboard album chart on June 6, 1964, and was replaced the next week by Louis Armstrong&#8217;s album \u201c<a title=\"Hello, Dolly! (Louis Armstrong album)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hello,_Dolly!_(Louis_Armstrong_album)\">Hello, Dolly!<\/a>\u201d Armstrong was also featured in the film version of the show, performing a small part of the song \u201cHello, Dolly!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The show has become one of the most enduring musical theater hits, with four Broadway revivals and international success.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cHello Dolly!\u201d became one of the most iconic Broadway shows of the latter half of the 1960s, running for 2,844 performances, and was the longest-running musical in Broadway history for a time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201c<a>This production <\/a>stays true to the older versions and older choreography,\u201d said Burns, who has performed in two other national tours \u2013 \u201cJersey Boys\u201d as Joe Pesci and \u201cPeter Pan 360\u201d as Michael Darling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cThis production has done a wonderful job of keeping what was great about the original and adding new costume design and set design.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cIt won a Tony Award for Best Costume Design. The tour is keeping everything from Broadway and bringing it to you. It\u2019s such a spectacle with a beautifully done backdrop. It\u2019s all very classically done.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Over the years, \u201cHello Dolly!\u201d has featured many of Broadway\u2019s top leading ladies, including Carol Channing, Mary Martin, Barbra Streisand, Pearl Bailey, Tovah Feldshuh, Bette Midler and Betty Buckley.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Burns plays the role of Barnaby Tucker, an assistant to Cornelius Hackl at Vandergelder\u2019s Hay &amp; Feed store. He is sweet, na\u00efve, energetic, and a follower.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cBarnaby is the best friend you could ever have,\u201d said Burns. \u201cYou can connect with the person there. He is Cornelius\u2019 best friend and is very supportive. He is also very na\u00efve. Everything is new to him. He\u2019s fascinated by everything.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Burns went to Bishop Hoban High School in Wilkes-Barre and then graduated from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. with a double degree \u2013 theater and music education. He has never performed professionally in either of the major cities between the two locations \u2013 Philadelphia or Baltimore.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cThis will be my first time to play Philly,\u201d said Burns. \u201cI\u2019ve done regional theater and national tours but never anything in Philadelphia. Ticket prices start at $29.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Phillip Glass is a world-class pianist and a composer who is hailed as one of the most influential composers of the late 20th century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The Annenberg Center (3680 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, <a href=\"https:\/\/annenbergcenter.org\/events\">https:\/\/annenbergcenter.org\/events<\/a>) is celebrating the career and impact of Philip Glass with #GLASSFEST &#8212; a three-week festival from February 21-March 14.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The Annenberg Center first presented the composer with The Philip Glass Ensemble in the 1990s. Through frequent appearances and a long-term commitment to showcasing new music, the Annenberg Center championed Glass and familiarized him to Philadelphia audiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11189\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/TheCrossingChoir.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11189\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11189\" src=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/TheCrossingChoir-350x261.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"261\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11189\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Crossing choir<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The three-week #GLASSFEST includes The Crossing choir performing \u201cKnee Plays,\u201d works by Philip Glass and David Byrne (February 21-22); the Philadelphia premiere of the five-hour entirety of Glass\u2019 groundbreaking \u201cMusic in Twelve Parts,\u201d performed by The Philip Glass Ensemble (February 29); \u201cGlass Reflections\u201d performed by pianist Jenny Lin in the Egypt Upper Gallery at the Penn Museum (March 5); and the world premiere of theatrical work, \u201cThe White Lama: The Improbable Legacy of Theos Bernard\u201d (March 13-14) by multi-disciplinary theatre artist and filmmaker Nikki Appino, featuring a score that will be performed by Glass himself and co-composer Tenzin Choegyal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The Annenberg Center\u2019s #GLASSFEST opens on February 21-22 with Grammy<\/span>\u24c7<span lang=\"EN\"> Award-winning new-music choir, The Crossing in the premiere of \u201cKnee Plays,\u201d a newly staged theatrical production at the Annenberg Center\u2019s Harold Prince Theatre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The program offers a rare opportunity to hear \u201cKnee Plays\u201d from Philip Glass\u2019s \u201cEinstein on the Beach\u201d and David Byrne\u2019s New Orleans-inspired contribution to Robert Wilson\u2019s largescale project, \u201cthe CIVIL warS,\u201d connected on one program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The Crossing\u2019s \u201cKnee Plays\u201d features music of Philip Glass and David Byrne on texts of Robert Wilson and David Byrne with projections by Eric Southern. The production was conceived and led by Donald Nally, conductor of The Crossing, and will be narrated by Philadelphia actor Dito van Reigersberg.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cIt\u2019s a challenge,\u201d said Nally, during a recent phone interview from his office in Philadelphia. \u201cWe\u2019re still in the middle of that challenge \u2013 modifying things, taking away things. We took both Philip Glass\u2019 \u2018Knee Plays\u2019 and David Byrne\u2019s \u2018Knee Plays\u2019 and mixed them up.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Drawn from Robert Wilson\u2019s massive productions &#8212; \u201cEinstein on the Beach\u201d and \u201cthe CIVIL warS\u201d &#8212; these two diverse and mesmerizing sets of musical knee plays are substantial works on their own &#8212; serving as a record of the time of their creation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">In the original David Byrne \u201cKnee Plays,\u201d Wilson wanted to transform a tree into a book, into a boat, and back into a tree. Byrne was interested in how that may play out under the influence of Noh theatre. Wilson and Glass were focused on the transformative nature of Einstein\u2019s work and life. Transformation is paramount to the \u201cKnee Plays.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">According to Nally, \u201cWhile the tree and the physicist remain shadows looming behind our \u2018Knee Play\u2019 reincarnations, they aren\u2019t here; their spirit of transformation and connection guide the evening which finds the singers of The Crossing moving into roles that stretch their identities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cAt one moment they sing, and in the next they are the instrument-wielding band, or a response to the call of Dito van Reigersberg (in a rare cameo), or philosophers with only a voice, a reed or a drum, and words to try to make the connections that Wilson, Glass, and Byrne were exploring.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cWe investigate identity. We laugh at themselves. And we are transformed. Physically. The spirit of Japanese theatre returns to the \u2018Knee Plays\u2019 &#8212; if only as an attempt to understand The Other. To connect. To be the knee.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">This production is more than just a choral work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cWe have design by Eric Southern, who is on the faculty with me at Northwestern University,\u201d said Nally. \u201cWe have in-house designer Paul Vasquez. And, we have Dito van Reigersberg, who is known on stage as Martha Graham Cracker. He\u2019s appearing as Dito doing all the David Byrne text that goes along with David Byrne\u2019s story.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The Crossing is an American professional chamber choir based in Philadelphia. The Crossing is conducted by Nally and dedicated to new music. It is committed to working with creative teams to make and record new, substantial works for choir that explore and expand ways of writing for choir, singing in choir, and listening to music for choir.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Many of its nearly 90 commissioned premieres address social, environmental, and political issues. With a commitment to recording its commissions, The Crossing has issued 19 releases and received two Grammy Awards for Best Choral Performance (2018, 2019), and three Grammy nominations in as many years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cThis is the first Philip Glass piece to be performed by The Crossing,\u201d said Nally. \u201cHe hasn\u2019t written much choral music.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cWhen Annenberg asked me to put this show together, I thought of Philip Glass\u2019 \u2018Einstein on the Beach.\u2019 I also had seen David Byrne\u2019s music in videos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cThese pieces are so different. During the concert, you immediately know if you\u2019re in David Byrne\u2019s world or Philp Glass\u2019 world. It\u2019s a very different show because we\u2019ve never done anything like this before.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">This is The Crossing\u2019s second program as part of a three-concert residency at the Annenberg Center. Ang\u00e9lique Kpasseloko Hinto Hounsinou Kandjo Manta Zogbin Kidjo, known as Ang\u00e9lique Kidjo, is a singer-songwriter, actress, and activist from Benin.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11190\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/doobie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11190\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11190\" src=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/doobie-350x250.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11190\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Doobie Decibel System<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">On February 20, there will be an adventurous triple bill at the Ardmore Music Hall (23 East Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore, 610-649-8389,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ardmoremusic.com\/\">www.ardmoremusic.com<\/a>) featuring Doobie Decibel System, Reid Genauer &amp; Folks (of Assembly of Dust) and Jamie McLean Band.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">For years, Doobie Decibel System\u00a0(DDS) had two configurations &#8212; DDS Duo featuring\u00a0Jason Crosby and Roger McNamee and DDS Band featuring Jason Crosby, Roger McNamee, Pete Sears, Dan \u201cLebo\u201d Lebowitz and Jay Lane.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">At other times, there was Doobie Decibel System Trio with Crosby, McNamee and Lebowitz. The current line-up continues the evolutionary process. The DDS configuration for the show in Ardmore is the Doobie Decibel System Quartet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cWe\u2019ve added a fourth member, which is a pretty cool thing,\u201d said McNamee, during a phone a recent phone interview. \u201cI think you\u2019re really going to like what you hear. Our new member is Erica Jeski. She\u2019s a classically trained vocalist so now we have four-part harmonies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The current Doobie Decibel System line-up features Crosby on guitar, fiddle and vocals; Lebowitz on lead guitar, lap steel and vocals; Jeski on vocals; and McNamee on acoustic guitar and vocals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The band, which is based in the San Francisco Bay area, was the brainchild of Crosby and McNamee. Both musicians have impressive credentials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Crosby has been a member of Robert Randolph and the Family Band and the Susan Tedeschi Band, among others. In recent years, Crosby has played with Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Carlos Santana, Pete Seeger, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen and Dave Matthews in various configurations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">McNamee is lead vocalist and plays bass and guitar with Moonalice, performing 90-100 shows a year. Additionally, Lebowitz has played or recorded with ALO, Lebo &amp; Friends, Jack Johnson, Phil Lesh, Steve Kimock Band, and Brokedown in Bakersfield.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Moonalice has leveraged technology to help build a national audience. The Moonalice Couch TourTM on <a href=\"http:\/\/moonalice.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Moonalice.com<\/a> enables fans to watch any show on a smartphone, PC or tablet without an app. Moonalice works with 24 poster artists to produce a unique poster that is given to guests at every concert.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Doobie Decibel System also supports the creative community by offering a commemorative poster by a well-known artist to fans at each show. And, we do a different poster for every show. We\u2019re big believers in the integration of music and art. We\u2019ve done 1,160 posters to date<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cWe started Doobie Decibel System about five years ago. In the Bay Area, members of the Grateful Dead have opened clubs \u2014 Bob Weir\u2019s Sweetwater (Music Hall &amp; Caf\u00e9) and Phil Lesh\u2019s Terrapin Crossroads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cThey changed the scene dramatically. They provided a place where musicians could do \u2018friend\u2019 concerts with the main artist and his invited friends. The comedian is likely to change his set on the spot based on the crowd and whatever is on his mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Born in Brooklyn and raised in Toms River, Poveromo gravitated toward humor ever since he was a youngster.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cI didn\u2019t hang out in the music scene,\u201d said Poveromo, during a recent phone interview.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cI was much more interested in stand-up. For me, humor was a way to cope with stuff. I saw grownups coping with things with humor. I remember when I was about five and my parents were watching a video of Richard Jeni\u2019s \u2018Crazy from the Heat\u2019 and they were laughing like crazy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cI also really liked Robin Williams from his TV shows like \u2018Mork &amp; Mindy\u2019 and that was another gateway to comedy for me. Then, I got into Jerry Seinfeld, Paul Reiser and Ellen and found out they all started with stand-up. And, I liked stand-ups because they told it like it was.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Poveromo<\/span><span lang=\"EN\">\u2019s knack for being funny became evident during his high school days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cI ended up getting named \u2018Class Comedian\u2019 out of 500 kids at Toms River East High School,\u201d said Poveromo. \u201cMy sense of humor was always about cracking jokes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cI went to college after I graduated high school at Brookdale Community College. I didn\u2019t want to go to college, but I had to do it because if you didn\u2019t go to college, you were a failure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cI left school after a year and took a stand-up course in New York. That was back in 2005. My first time on stage was at Carolines On Broadway \u2013 no pressure, right?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Carolines on Broadway is a venue for stand-up comedy located in Times Square in New York City on Broadway between 49th and 50th Street. It is one of the most established, famous, and recognized stand-up comedy clubs in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cI was taking a risk,\u201d said Poveromo. \u201cI wasn\u2019t going up with \u2018five minutes of comedy that worked\u2019 attitude. I thought \u2013 you just go on with whatever when you get onstage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cIn the beginning, I\u2019d go up with a couple ideas. I just do my own material \u2013 whatever I wanted talk about \u2013 because I\u2019m naturally funny.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Since childhood, Poveromo has enjoyed making strangers laugh. He has written comedy for shows on HBO and VH1, as well as his own book, \u201cDrawings From a Nobody,\u201d which features his comic-strip style drawings of scenes from everyday life. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Poveromo<\/span><span lang=\"EN\">\u2019s perfect blend of self-deprecation and optimism makes him a dynamic and unpredictable performer who is both engaging and fun to watch as he struggles to make sense of himself and the world around him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">He can be heard on Sirius XM Radio, has been featured at the Jersey City Comedy Festival and The New York Underground Comedy Festival, and has appeared on Comcast On Demand\u2019s \u201cYoung Comedians Showcase.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Poveromo<\/span><span lang=\"EN\"> also has written for a variety of shows, including ESPN\u2019s Sports Nation, Current TV\u2019s Viewpoint with John Fugelsang, Joy Behar\u2019s Say Anything on HLN, The Independents, and CNN Newsroom, as well as Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld, Hannity, and VH1\u2019s \u201cBest Of\u201d series. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cMy live shows are really loose,\u201d said Poveromo. \u201cSpontaneity is important. Playing with the audience is also a big part of my show.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cI talk about anything that goes on in life. My favorite topics are society and how people react in social situations.
