Thanks to heavy mail-in use, not so fast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>By Mike McGann<\/strong>, <em>Editor, The Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mikemcgannpa\">@mikemcgannpa<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Election2020-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-11933\" src=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Election2020-1-326x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"326\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>If you were expecting to see results this morning of the many contested primaries in and around Chester County \u2014 you may need a bit of patience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">And any candidate declaring victory might be a bit premature.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">More than half of the voters in Chester County used Vote-By-Mail \u2014 while 63,583 votes were cast at the polls Tuesday, about 72,000 ballots came in by mail and are being counted, according to Chester County Commissioner Josh Maxwell \u2014 who noted on Twitter Wednesday morning that about 25,000 mail ballots had been counted so far, with it likely taking another two days to complete the count. In addition to Voter Services staff, Maxwell said that county employees from Human Resources, Finance and Legal staff were assisting in the count.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">With more than half the vote still out, the results on the county Election results may be far from conclusive \u2014 there\u2019s no way to know where the mail votes came from and from which party.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Adding to the confusion: don\u2019t expect to see results from the 9th Senatorial District primary between Democrats John Kane and Brett Burman or the 160th State House race between Anton Andrew and Cathy Spahr.
