{"id":27988,"date":"2020-09-04T09:59:24","date_gmt":"2020-09-04T13:59:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=27988"},"modified":"2020-09-04T09:59:29","modified_gmt":"2020-09-04T13:59:29","slug":"commissioners-ok-2-3m-in-community-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=27988","title":{"rendered":"Commissioners OK $2.3M in community grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/ChesterCountyLogo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-12433\" src=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/ChesterCountyLogo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"303\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>WEST CHESTER \u2014 Five Chester County communities are now set to receive more than $2.3 million in grants from Chester County\u2019s Community Revitalization Program (CRP) fund.<\/p>\n<p>The boroughs of Atglen, Honey Brook, Oxford and Spring City and the City of Coatesville have all been approved by the Chester County Commissioners to receive CRP funding to improve and maintain municipal infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2002, the Commissioners have approved more than $70 million in funding for urban center improvements and upgrades, which include Chester County\u2019s 15 boroughs and the City of Coatesville. By leveraging these investments, including water and sewer system upgrades, stormwater management, roadway improvements and streetscaping, the urban centers are able to accommodate future growth and see a rise in home values. Every borough and the City of Coatesville have realized significant increases in their taxable assessment, with an average increase of just under 20 percent. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Pat Bokovitz, Director of the Chester County Department of Community Development said, \u201cThe 2020 CRP awards are in all corners of the County and illustrate the diverse nature of infrastructure needs in our towns.\u00a0 Once completed, these construction projects will have long lasting positive impact on these communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year, the following projects were approved for 2020 CRP funding:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Borough of Atglen \u2013 Ridge Avenue Water Main Replacement, Phase 2: $506,880 <\/strong>for the replacement of the water main along Ridge Avenue between High Street and Israel Mill Road.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Borough of Honey Brook &#8211; North Chestnut Street Curb, Sidewalk and Road Rehabilitation: $139,975 <\/strong>for ADA compliant sidewalks, curbs, storm water improvements and street paving repair.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Borough of Oxford \u2013 Downtown Oxford Access and Pedestrian Safety Improvements: $650,000 <\/strong>to remedy structural roadway problems and pedestrian safety issues along roadways and sidewalks adjacent to the new parking and public transportation center, as well as other amenities in downtown Oxford.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Borough of Spring City \u2013 ADA Compliant Public Parking Improvements: $550,000 <\/strong>for the revitalization of a vacant lot to construct an ADA compliant, terraced parking lot free to the general public.<\/li>\n<li><strong>City of Coatesville \u2013 Train Station Parking Garage: $500,000 <\/strong>towards construction of a 450-space parking garage that will serve regional rail riders for Amtrak and SEPTA users (SEPTA service is expected to return to the City by 2022.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information about the Community Revitalization Program, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/chesco.org\/1916\/Community-Development\">https:\/\/chesco.org\/1916\/Community-Development<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WEST CHESTER \u2014 Five Chester County communities are now set to receive more than $2.3 million in grants from Chester County\u2019s Community Revitalization Program (CRP) fund.
