{"id":28130,"date":"2020-09-22T10:14:06","date_gmt":"2020-09-22T14:14:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=28130"},"modified":"2020-09-22T10:14:09","modified_gmt":"2020-09-22T14:14:09","slug":"county-oks-1-8m-in-home-rental-assistance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=28130","title":{"rendered":"County OKs $1.8M in home rental assistance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/ChesterCountyLogo-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-12545\" src=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/ChesterCountyLogo-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"303\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>WEST CHESTER \u2014 To combat an anticipated increase in evictions due to COVID-19, the Chester County Commissioners approved this week $1.8 million in CARES funding to help cover rental payments and additional services for those with job and income losses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrevious programs have provided up to $750 in rental assistance, but that\u2019s simply not enough to cover the cost of housing in Chester County,\u201d said Chester County Commissioners\u2019 Chair Marian Moskowitz.\u00a0 \u201cThis additional funding is intended to provide a more practical option for families who have lost income due to COVID-19.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis program provides for payment to be made within 48 hours, once all application forms are submitted with the necessary documentation,\u201d said Commissioner Josh Maxwell. \u201cThis is key for families facing eviction, when time is of the essence.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The assistance is for individuals and families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic who are unable to pay their rent due to job or income loss, and are in danger of becoming homeless without assistance. The funding will be disbursed by the Housing Authority of Chester County to implement its Homeless Prevention and Rental Assistance Program, and will complement additional funding that the County and the PA Housing Finance Agency have provided.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to keep Chester County families in their homes.
