\u00a0Seventeen nonprofits to benefit from Brandywine Health Foundation’s program<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Interrupting preparations for its next big fund-raiser – the Festive 5K Run\/ Walk –\u00a0the Brandywine Health Foundation recently announced grants totaling $486,500 to more than a dozen nonprofits, bringing the foundation\u2019s distribution total since it began awarding grants in 2002 to nearly $10.7 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast week our board of directors unanimously approved grants to 17 valuable community programs providing critical services to families in the greater Coatesville area,\u201d said Elizabeth Silva Wood, board member and chair of the foundation\u2019s grant committee.\u00a0 \u201cWe are extremely proud to provide this critically needed financial support to these programs, which help to make health care services more affordable and accessible to children, their families and seniors in our community.<\/p>\n

Silva said that as the demand for assistance has grown significantly, the safety-net grants will enable the \u201cextremely dedicated and professional staff and volunteer teams from these local nonprofit agencies\u201d to continue their services.<\/p>\n

The recipients are Chester County Community Dental ($245,000); the \u00a0Chester County Food Bank ($10,000); Chester County Health Department\u2019s Nurse-Family Partnership ($10,000); Child Guidance Resource Centers ($50,000); Coatesville Center for Community Health ($10,000); Coatesville Adult Social Center, formerly the Coatesville Area Senior Center ($5,000); Community Volunteers in Medicine ($7,500); Domestic Violence Center of Chester County ($10,000);\u00a0Family Service of Chester County ($15,000); Handi-Crafters Inc. ($5,000); Human Services Inc. ($15,000); Maternal and Child Health Consortium’s Healthy Start Program ($35,000); Neighborhood Health Agencies\u2019 Senior Health Link ($10,000); PA Health Funders Collaborative ($4,000); Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania’s Coatesville Health Center ($35,000); The Chester County Hospital and Health System Prenatal Clinic ($10,000); Westwood Fire Company ($10,000 challenge grant).<\/p>\n

To continue its outreach in the greater Coatesville area, the foundation wants residents to mark their calendars: On\u00a0Saturday, Dec. 1,\u00a0<\/strong>participants of all ages and fitness levels are expected to compete in a 5k Run or participate in a One Mile Fun Walk to benefit the Coatesville Youth Initiative.\u00a0 Now in its third year, the Festive 5K Run\/ Walk will be held prior to the Coatesville Christmas Parade.
