{"id":329,"date":"2012-01-13T09:25:30","date_gmt":"2012-01-13T14:25:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=329"},"modified":"2012-01-13T11:41:55","modified_gmt":"2012-01-13T16:41:55","slug":"drainage-issues-a-worry-for-caln-commissioners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=329","title":{"rendered":"Drainage issues a worry for Caln commissioners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Residents complain about storm drain maintenance<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>By Jamie Richard<\/strong>, <span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"><em>Correspondent, CoatesvilleTimes.com<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_332\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/2010_1115AM.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-332\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-332\" style=\"border: 2px solid gray; margin: 4px;\" title=\"2010_1115AM\" src=\"http:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/2010_1115AM-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/2010_1115AM-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/2010_1115AM.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-332\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Caln township secretary Bambi Warren and Township Manager Greg Prowant address resident issues as commissioners Lorrain Tindaro and Josh Young look on, Thursday night.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>CALN \u2014 Thursday\u2019s Board of Commissioners work session turned into a public forum as community members and representatives came forward seeking aid or approval from the board.<\/p>\n<p>Coatesville residents Christie Fritsch and Ralph Jilek spoke before the board to express concerns over storm drain maintenance issues.\u00a0 According to Fritsch, a drainage pipe that runs through her and Jilek\u2019s properties is leaking or otherwise compromised, causing sinkholes to form on both properties.\u00a0 Fritsch and Jilek sought the board\u2019s aid in having the pipe repaired, despite the fact that it is located on private property.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d just like to see what can be done,\u201d said Fritsch.\u00a0 \u201cWe didn\u2019t put the pipe in \u2026I didn\u2019t even realize the pipe existed until October.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Concern arose within the board over whether or not the township is accountable for the pipe\u2019s maintenance. Although the pipe is located on private property, it connects the storm pipes on Seltzer Ave. and Watson Ave., both of which are public works.\u00a0 The board ultimately decided to review township records to verify who was responsible for the pipe\u2019s installation.\u00a0 If the township was not responsible for the pipe\u2019s installation, the board would be forced to set precedent if they wished to repair the pipe. \u00a0Though no definitive conclusion was reached, board vice-president Charles Kramer assured Fritsch and Jilek that the issue would be addressed in a timely manner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand your concern,\u201d said Kramer. \u201cWe\u2019re on your side\u2026we want to help as much as we can, if we can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ronald Klos Jr. and Kristin Ritz came as representatives of Bohler Engineering and Wawa respectively, seeking approval on Wawa\u2019s request to sell diesel fuel at their location on Lincoln Hwy.\u00a0 According to Klos, a 15,000 gallon tank would be installed to provide diesel fuel specifically for diesel-powered cars and trucks; tractor trailers will not be permitted to fuel at the Wawa. \u00a0Klos estimated that construction would last approximately two weeks and, despite concern from board members, would not cause additional traffic congestion at the Wawa.\u00a0 The board unanimously approved the request.<\/p>\n<p>Other business included the resignation of Zoning Hearing Board member Anthony Polini and discussion on the publication of township community map.<\/p>\n<p>The Board of Commissioners will next convene for a regularly scheduled business meeting on Jan. 26 at 7:30 PM.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Residents complain about storm drain maintenance By Jamie Richard, Correspondent, CoatesvilleTimes.com CALN \u2014 Thursday\u2019s Board of Commissioners work session turned into a public forum as community members and representatives came forward seeking aid or approval from the board.
