Both Greene and Willett are students at the 9-10 Grade Center and are members of the Reserve Officer Training Corps.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_370\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Photo6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-370\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-370 \" style=\"border: 2px solid gray; margin: 4px;\" title=\"Photo6\" src=\"http:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Photo6-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Photo6-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Photo6.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-370\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Instructor Dania Langly leads participants in zumba dancing.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re helping being tour guides\u2026helping people get around and find registration and activities,\u201d said Greene.\u00a0 \u201cROTC always helps out with these kinds of events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe really like to give back to the community and help out,\u201d said Willett.<\/p>\n<p>West Chester University professor and school board member Dr. Tonya Thames Taylor and Scott Middle School reading specialist Shamica Johnson organized the day of service.\u00a0 Aside from helping to run the event, Taylor facilitated a panel discussion of King\u2019s activism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great that we can have these people come in here and talk about his [King\u2019s] activism and intellect,\u201d said Taylor.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson also considered the day of service to have been a huge success.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_368\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Photo3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-368\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-368 \" style=\"border: 2px solid gray; margin: 4px;\" title=\"Photo3\" src=\"http:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Photo3-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Photo3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Photo3.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-368\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Winston Greene and Noah Willett help guide visitors.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI think the event has been tremendous,\u201d said Johnson.\u00a0 We\u2019ve had a large pouring out of community members and students.\u00a0 We ran out of t-shirts to give out and we had over 500\u2026I\u2019m very impressed by the amount of people that came to support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The day of service also featured recreational activities such as zumba, hip-hop dancing, games and other activities designed to engage youth, something Johnson feels strongly about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a kid come up to me and say, \u2018this is nice; this is fun.\u2019\u00a0 That\u2019s important to me, that they\u2019re getting something out of it but they\u2019re having a good time as well.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than 500 attend event at Coatesville High School, organized by students, faculty By Jamie Richard, Correspondent, CoatesvilleTimes.com COATESVILLE \u2013 Students and community members came out in full support of the Coatesville Area School District\u2019s Martin Luther King Day of Service, Monday.
