Along the route you can find art galleries, shops, restaurants, bars, and more.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Non-traditional boutiques and excellent restaurants complement the art galleries, artisan studios, museums, performing groups, professional theater, symphony orchestra and art college.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Another First Friday event this weekend will take place in Old City Philadelphia (230 Vine Street and locations throughout Old City Philadelphia, 215- 625-9200,<a id=\"OWA043a8eeb-0129-ccfa-9e36-ef75088a8fd1\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oldcitydistrict.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.oldcitydistrict.org<\/a>).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">On the first Friday of each month \u2014 year-round \u2014 Old City\u2019s galleries, studios, shops and restaurants open their doors for First Friday, in an epic exhibition of the neighborhood\u2019s vibrant arts scene.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Old City Arts Association launched First Friday in 1991 to introduce Philadelphia to the improving neighborhood and the artists and designers who were bringing it back to life.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Two decades later, Old City is a nationally recognized arts destination, named in 2013 as one of the country\u2019s top\u00a0ArtPlaces by the ArtPlace Foundation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">On the first Friday evening of every month, the streets of Old City fill with art lovers of all kinds who wander among the neighborhood\u2019s 40-plus galleries, most of which are open from 5-9 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-20758 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/rally-the-troops-flyer-1187x1536-1-232x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" \/>On Saturday, Brandywine Battlefield Park (1491 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brandywinebattlefield.org\/\">www.brandywinebattlefield.org<\/a>) will present \u201cRally the Troops: A Living History Encampment.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">At the event, which will run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on August 2, visitors can travel back to 1777 and experience what life was like for soldiers and civilians as the past comes to life through engaging experiences.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">They will be able to explore a Patriot encampment, meet historical interpreters, and see Washington\u2019s encampment come to life.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Hands-on fun for all ages includes\u00a0live musket firing demos,\u00a0Continental Army recruitment activities and Kids\u2019 musket drills.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There will be tours of the site\u2019s historic homes &#8212;\u00a0Benjamin Ring House (Washington\u2019s HQ) at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and\u00a0Gideon Gilpin House at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Musket firing demos are scheduled for 11 a.m., noon, 1 and 3 p.m. while kids&#8217; musket drills will be held at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $7 for youth (3-11).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Some of the area\u2019s annual events such as the Goshen Fair and Das Awkscht Fescht have been around for a long time &#8212; a really long time.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">One of the best &#8212; and longest-running \u2013 fairs is the annual Goshen Country Fair (Goshen Fairgrounds, Park Avenue, East Goshen, 610- 430-1554, <a id=\"OWA831368c7-3806-9e8a-7e2d-a1eeb5b01abb\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.goshencountryfair.org\/\">www.goshencountryfair.org<\/a>).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The fair, which is celebrating its diamond anniversary (75th) this season, will run from now through August 3 at the Goshen Fairgrounds, which are located just off West Chester Pike three miles east of West Chester.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The free family-oriented event is held each year as a benefit for the Goshen Fire Company. It will open at 6 p.m. on Friday and at 5 p.m. on Saturday.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This is an authentic down-home country fair with all the agricultural events held at most traditional country fairs, including livestock competitions each night at 6 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The fair will also feature competitions for pies, vegetables, jams and jellies, specimen flowers, bread, cookies, flowering houseplants, cakes, flower arrangements, and candy. Nightly attractions include live music performances, tug-of-war competitions and pie-eating contests.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The schedule for live music includes Slingshot on August 1 and Southern Edge Band on August 2.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">You can also take a trip back in time by attending Das Awkscht Fescht (Macungie Memorial Park, Main Street, Macungie, 610-967-2317, <a id=\"OWAc4a1765c-3edf-6435-96e3-218bf4b382ea\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.awkscht.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.awkscht.com<\/a>) &#8212; an event that is easy to enjoy and difficult to pronounce.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Das Awkscht Fescht, which is celebrating its 62nd\u00a0anniversary this year, runs from August 1-3 in Macungie, a small town just south of Allentown. It is billed as one of the largest antique and classic car shows in the country with over 3,500 cars on display.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The popular annual event takes its name from \u201cDer Augscht\u201d, which is the Pennsylvania Dutch word for \u201cAugust.\u201d Das Awkscht Fescht, which is held the first weekend of August each year, is a traditional summer festival with a full roster of family fun events.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This year\u2019s featured car is the Chevrolet Camaro.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There is a completely different car show each day<u>.<\/u>\u00a0August 1 features the Variety Show with thousands of pre-1991 automobile models along with a variety of classic tractors, trucks and motorcycles.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">On August 2, the spotlight will be on the Antique and Classic Car Show with more than 1,200 antique cars, classic automobiles and sports cars. On August 3, the event is the Special Interest Car Show featuring 35 car clubs with more than 800 vintage autos.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There will be a variety of kids\u2019 shows and activities including jugglers, magicians, ventriloquists, clowns and a special creative activity and display center. Kids of all ages will enjoy the Antique Toy Show, which is held at Eyer Middle School, and Toy Town, which is staged outdoors.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Other attractions include daily bingo sessions, picnics in the park, a playground, a huge public swimming pool, an arts and crafts show featuring over 120 artisans and an \u201cAntique Auto Flea Market.\u201d There will also be fireworks spectacular Saturday at 9:30 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Admission to the festival is $10 for adults and free for children (15 and under).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Another top attraction in the Lehigh Valley is Musikfest.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Bethlehem\u2019s Musikfest (downtown Bethlehem, 610-332-1300, <a id=\"OWA1a871c6d-61a8-f3af-d4d9-a41006e455a2\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.musikfest.org\/\">www.musikfest.org<\/a>) is a special event \u2014 an event that is more than just another popular summertime festival in the Lehigh Valley.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Over the years, Musikfest has established itself as one of America\u2019s top annual music festivals an event that offers big name headliners as well as a wide variety of folk, rock, pop and ethnic music acts.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">It also sports some impressive numbers.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The festival, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, features free music performances on most of its indoor and outdoor stages.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Musikfest, which is running now through August 10, presents more than 300 live musical performances and draws over one million people to the Lehigh Valley every August.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The main concert stage at Musikfest is the Sands Steel Stage which features national touring acts with tickets required for all shows.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The following is this year\u2019s main stage schedule \u2013 Riley Green on August 1, The Avett Brothers on August 2, Darius Rucker on August 3, the Black Crowes on August 4, Chicago on August 5, Nelly on August 6, Gilberto Santa Rosa on August 7, Third Eye Blind on August 8, Jordan Davis on August 9 and The Black Keys on August 10.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There will also be a multitude of free concerts but Musikfest is much more than just festival offering a wealth of music.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">It also features interactive arts and theater activities for children along with a large number of concessions offering a wide array of food and beverage treats.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Elmwood\u00a0Park Zoo (1661 Harding Boulevard, Norristown, <a id=\"OWAe1e5fee3-4530-d5ab-c3a4-fcc58dce4d62\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" title=\"http:\/\/www.elmwoodparkzoo.org\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.elmwoodparkzoo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.elmwoodparkzoo.org<\/a>) is hosting one of its \u201cCentennial Saturdays\u201d on August 2.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">On its website, the Zoo is issuing an invitation \u2013 \u201cJoin in the festivities with your family and friends as we continue to commemorate our special milestone with a series of exciting events.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cEnjoy live entertainment, indulge in a delicious birthday treat, and be amazed by our captivating animal shows.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">As an added attraction, the first 100 guests will receive a special giveaway item.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Philadelphia Expo Center (100 Station Road, Oaks, 610-529-3614,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/phillyexpocenter.com\/\">phillyexpocenter.com<\/a>) will host the 10th Annual \u201cPhoenixville Punk\u00a0Rock\u00a0Flea\u00a0Market\u201d on August 2.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The\u00a0Punk\u00a0Rock\u00a0Flea\u00a0Market\u00a0is the place to shop for vintage clothing, records, crafts, art, and most of all old\u00a0punk\u00a0junk from more than 200 vendors &#8212; Hope Lodge is an excellent example of early Georgian architecture, and it is possible that Edmund Woolley, architect of Independence Hall, offered advice in building.
