With temperatures expected to be in single digits this weekend, heading to an outdoor event doesn\u2019t seem like a great option.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
However, for those who enjoy bitter cold weather, there is a special event for you.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Founders Philly Freeze-Out\u00a0(manayunk.com\/events<\/a>) will take place on Main Street in\u00a0Manayunk\u00a0on January 31.<\/div>\n
Billed as Philadelphia\u2019s largest outdoor winter festival, the free event will run from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The event is being held concurrently with the\u00a0Manayunk Chowder Crawl\u00a0at noon (paid tickets required).<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The festival will feature live ice-carving demos, more than two dozen creations from Ice Sculpture Philly, an ice slide and a snowy ice igloo. There will also be a Lunar New Year Lion Dance along with food trucks and beer specials, a winter market, and discounts at area businesses.<\/div>\n

Another outdoor event will take place in Delaware County this weekend.<\/div>\n

The John\u00a0Heinz\u00a0National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum (8601 Lindbergh Boulevard, Philadelphia, www.fws.gov\/refuge\/John_Heinz<\/a>) will host \u201cGroundhog Day Celebration\u201d on January 31.<\/div>\n

\"\"Visitors are invited to celebrate Groundhog Day with the staff.<\/div>\n

They can join a family-friendly walk at 10 a.m. to learn about its history and nature.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Guests can also enjoy crafts, music, and live animals from the Metro Wildlife Rehab Center from 11 a.m.-noon at the Visitor Center.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Finally, there will be the \u201cGroundhog Shadow Reveal\u201d at noon.<\/div>\n

If the cold weather has you down and you\u2019re dreaming about playing a round of golf on a warm summer day, there is an event this weekend to get you in the mood.<\/div>\n

The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center (Station Avenue, Oaks, 800-677-4677, www.phillyexpocenter.com<\/a>) is presenting the Philadelphia Golf Show now through February 1.<\/div>\n

They can also work on their swing with the local pros, demo clubs, and compete for prizes.<\/div>\n

Now through February 8, the Auto Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia is presenting the 2026 Philadelphia Auto Show at the Pennsylvania\u00a0Convention\u00a0Center (12th and Arch streets, Philadelphia, www.phillyautoshow.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The automotive industry\u2019s latest creations are on display at the Pennsylvania\u00a0Convention\u00a0Center during the annual\u00a0Philadelphia Auto Show, running for 10 days. Showgoers get an up-close look at hundreds of classic, luxury and exotic cars \u2014 and even have the opportunity to climb behind the wheel of some.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Spanning more than a half-million square feet, the 2026 Philadelphia Auto Show display floor will include several new features as well as time-honored fan favorites. This year marks the 124th edition of the event.<\/div>\n

Guests will again be invited to check out the latest and greatest developments from some of today\u2019s leading vehicle manufacturers in \u201cThe Showroom,\u201d which will be in Halls A, B and C of the PA\u00a0Convention\u00a0Center.<\/div>\n

Custom Alley will showcase a wide array of tricked-out rides, bikes and the latest in after-market excitement.<\/div>\n
Ticket prices range from $12-$20.<\/div>\n

Longwood Gardens (Route 1, Kennett Square, 610-388-1000, www.longwoodgardens.org<\/a>) has started its new year with one of its annual special events \u201cWinter Wonder,\u201d which began on January 16.<\/div>\n

\u201cWinter Wonder,\u201d which runs now through March 22, celebrates the beauty of winter. It\u2019s all about outdoor spacious, indoor oasis, and the power of story.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Outside, visitors can find a sense of peace and tranquility as they walk past textural grasses, seed heads and the dramatic silhouettes of trees that stretch up into the sky.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Inside, they can bask in a world of warmth that features an overhead garden of hanging baskets adorned with such vibrant beauties as jasmine, cape-primrose, and lipstick-plant.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Visitors will be able to enjoy a paradise of flowers and foliage, bursting with color — all in a beautiful indoor winter wonderland with a tropical twist.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Inside Longwood\u2019s Conservatory, visitors can check out nearly 300 blooming orchids on display in the site\u2019s Orchid House.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The gardens are open from Wednesdays through Mondays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until March 22. Hours change in the spring.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As always, admission by \u201cTimed Ticket\u201d — tickets issued for specific dates and times. Timed ticketing limits the number of people in the Gardens at any given time and allows guests to enjoy minimal lines and a better viewing experience.<\/div>\n

You may enter the Gardens up to 30 minutes prior and 30 minutes after your designated time. Make every effort to arrive at your designated reservation time. Earlier or later arrivals may not be accommodated.<\/div>\n

Admission to Longwood Gardens is $32 for adults, $28 for seniors (ages 62 and older) and college students, $23 for active military and veterans and $17 for youth (ages 5-18).<\/div>\n

Area wineries are providing activity options in spite of the weather.<\/div>\n

Chaddsford Winery (Route 1, Chadds Ford, www.chaddsford.com<\/a>) is presenting \u201cReserve Tastings \u2013Festive Faves\u201d on select Saturdays and Sundays in January.<\/div>\n

Guests will join the CFW Crew for an intimate and educational 60-minute experience in the Barrel Room.\u00a0The trained staff will guide them through a pre-selected tasting of five widely diverse and award-winning wines from across our portfolio. The selections will be paired alongside seasonal local cheeses and other accoutrements to enhance your tasting experience.<\/div>\n
