Visitors can explore how this fiery little invention lit the way for advertising, science and everyday convenience.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The event will be held at the Science History Institute, which is located at 315 Chestnut Street in Center City Philadelphia.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-21266 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Screenshot-2024-01-09-at-10.05.39-AM-300x300-1-301x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"301\" height=\"300\" \/>Now through March 22, you can get a bead on the subject by attending an event that is all about beads \u2013 the \u201cBest Bead Show\u201d at the Greater Philadelphia Expo\u00a0Center (100 Station Avenue, Oaks, 610-232-5718, <a id=\"OWAa080b6f4-e3b9-55c7-e9b3-28f9eb433c51\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.phillyexpocenter.com\/\">www.phillyexpocenter.com<\/a>). This is an event that claims to be the largest East Coast traveling display of Japanese seed beads\u2013 over 4500 variations.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Described as a bead and jewelry extravaganza, the huge annual event will feature a large vendor area where visitors can purchase everything from beading supplies to hand-crafted jewelry.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The \u201cBest Bead Show\u201d will have a variety of booths along with workshops which will be presented by experts in the bead and jewelry fields.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The hours for Bead Fest Spring are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on\u00a0 Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 per day.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This weekend, the Expo Center will also host the \u201cMid Atlantic Indoor Nationals &#8212; Car, Truck and Bike Show.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Mid Atlantic Indoor Nationals (MAIN) is a custom car, truck and bike show featuring some of the East Coast\u2019s best custom vehicles.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There will be more than 90 awards in categories ranging from \u201cWeekend Drivers\u201d to \u201cProfessional Show Vehicles.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">A variety of makes, models, and years will be on display.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Vendors, live entertainment, music and great food combine to make the event a weekend festival.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The show will run from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on March 21 and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on March 22.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Admission is $25 or adults (ages 16 and older), $10 for children (ages 11-15) and free for children (10 and under).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">On March 21 and 22, Fort\u00a0Mifflin\u00a0(Fort\u00a0Mifflin\u00a0and Hog Island roads, Philadelphia, 215-685-4167, <a id=\"OWAb3062412-4ab0-b134-78af-b2bcbe03f80b\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" title=\"Protected by Outlook: http:\/\/www.fortmifflin.us\/. Click or tap to follow the link.\" href=\"https:\/\/zenkaikon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/zenkaikon.com<\/a>), is an event unlike any other.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The stated mission of\u00a0Zenkaikon\u00a0is to promote knowledge and enjoyment of Japanese art, animation, and culture as well as science fiction and fantasy literature and films of all origins.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Zenkaikon\u00a0was created in 2006 when two Philadelphia-area events merged &#8212; Kosaikon, an anime convention held at Villanova University, and Zentrancon, an anime and science fiction convention held on the University of<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Pennsylvania campus. In 2006,\u00a0Zenkaikon\u00a0held its first event at the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The convention, which is one of the most colorful and diverse events on the Lancaster site\u2019s annual calendar, will be a celebration Japanese animation (anime), comics (manga), and pop culture.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This\u00a0year\u2019s\u00a0Zenkaikon\u00a0features a wide variety of activities including anime and live action screenings, discussion panels, workshops, costume competitions, concerts by musical guests, game shows, video and table-top gaming, vendors and artists.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Some of the featured events at this weekend\u2019s convention are Cosplay Masquerade, Anime Music Video Contest, Artemis, Artists Alley, Scavenger Hunt and autograph sessions. Other attractions are the \u201cDealers Room\u201d, game shows, live action role playing, karaoke and an array of panels and workshops.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Tickets prices are $80 for adults and $50 for youth.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The American Swedish Historical Museum\u00a0(1900 Pattison Avenue,\u00a0Philadelphia, <i><a id=\"OWAdb299e09-e45c-71ab-00e2-39f618b1b2f1\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.americanswedish.org\/\">www.americanswedish.org<\/a><\/i>) is hosting an event on March 21 called \u201cExtrABBAganza! ABBA Dance Party.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There&#8217;s no better place to celebrate the iconic music of ABBA than the American Swedish Historical Museum. Philadelphia&#8217;s own DJ Robert Drake will spin the classics as everyone lets out their inner Dancing Queen.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Highlights of the evening include a dancing and costume contest and a Drag Queen homage to ABBA performed by Summer St. Cartier, Miss. Troy, Amerie Jameson, and Morgan Morgan Morgan.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There will be the first-ever ABBA Raffle, packed with great prizes including Phillies home game tickets, a Tyson Foerster-signed puck, Elmwood Park Zoo passes, a Quinyon Mitchell-signed football, and so many more amazing surprises.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Event tickets include a fun Swedish-inspired and retro food buffet dinner.
