Superb ambience, gourmet cuisine, spectacular fireworks, and the knowledge of supporting a worthy cause await guests of the Brandywine Health Foundation\u2019s 11th<\/sup> annual Garden Party on Wednesday, May 22.<\/p>\n

Held at Springbank Farm, a private Coatesville-area residence, the Hawaiian-themed celebration will feature a light supper by John Serock Catering; beer, wine and cocktails; a private fireworks display; and the opportunity to participate in a dessert competition. Univest Bank and Trust Co. is sponsoring of \u201cThe Battle of the Berries at Brandywine,\u201d where guests will sample desserts from prestigious area restaurants and vote for their favorite. Last year\u2019s \u201cPeople\u2019s Choice\u201d winner was Northbrook MarketPlace <\/b>and the Culinary Excellence Award was presented to Amani\u2019s BYOB by the panel of celebrity judges. Many of the guests have been known to begin their evening by sampling the desserts before moving on to supper.<\/p>\n

Leon Moyer, president and chief executive officer of Univest Bank and Trust Co. \u201cWhile this is our first year of sponsorship, taking an active role in supporting our local communities by providing strong leadership, financial support, and volunteerism has been an integral part of Univest\u2019s culture for 137 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year, desserts will be prepared by \u00a0eight local restaurants: Amani\u2019s BYOB, Bordley House Grille, Duling-Kurtz House and Country Inn, Firecreek Restaurant and Bar, General Warren Inne, Northbrook MarketPlace, Station Taproom, and The Orangery at Glen Isle.<\/p>\n

The 2013 Culinary Excellence Award will be presented by a celebrity judge panel sponsored by The Town Dish, including Mary Bigham, The Town Dish; Chester County Commissioner Terence Farrell; Kristen Hagopian, a syndicated personal finance columnist; and Jamie Lundmark, Canadian professional ice hockey forward who is currently playing with KAC in Klagenfurt, Austria.<\/p>\n

The Garden Party kicks off the 2013 Strawberry Festival, presented by PECO and supported by First Niagara. It will run from Thursday, May 30 to Sunday, June 2, on the grounds of the Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville.\u00a0The Brandywine Health Foundation\u2019s priorities center on health equity, youth development, and building a safe and economically viable Coatesville community. <\/strong><\/p>\n
