{"id":5813,"date":"2013-06-05T09:58:50","date_gmt":"2013-06-05T13:58:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=5813"},"modified":"2013-06-05T09:58:50","modified_gmt":"2013-06-05T13:58:50","slug":"hazardous-waste-collection-to-be-held-on-june-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coatesvilletimes.com\/?p=5813","title":{"rendered":"Hazardous Waste Collection to be held on June 21"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><em><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Residents are invited to bring dangerous household products\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/h1>\n<p>For the fifth time since the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program began in 1998, all seventy-three Chester County municipalities are hosting a Household Hazardous Waste and Computer Collection Event for Chester County residents on a Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The Friday, June 21 event will be held at the Coatesville 9<sup>th<\/sup> and 10<sup>th<\/sup> Grade Center parking lot at 1425 East Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, PA 19320-2459. The collection site will be open at 9 a.m. and will close at 3 p.m. sharp.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Residents may bring TV\u2019s, old computers and peripherals. There is a limit of 220 pounds or 25 gallons of hazardous products per household. Hazardous cleaning and maintenance products will have the following cautionary words on the label: poisonous, caustic, toxic, flammable, ignitable, corrosive, reactive, caution, warning, danger or hazardous.<\/p>\n<p>This collection is not for businesses or contractors.<\/p>\n<p>Unacceptable materials are latex paint, used motor oil, tires, asbestos, explosives, gas cylinders, household alkaline batteries, PCBs, medical waste, unidentified waste, commercial and industrial, explosives, ammunition and appliances containing Freon.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that latex paint is not hazardous waste.<b> <\/b>Residents should not bring latex paint to Household Hazardous Waste Collection events. Solidify latex paint by either air drying small quantities or pouring the paint into a plastic trash bag with sawdust, clay-based kitty litter or rags and placing the bag and the opened can in the trash. Oil-based paint can be brought to a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event.<\/p>\n<p>For information on how to properly handle unacceptable materials, interested residents can visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chestercountyswa.org\/\">www.chestercountyswa.org<\/a>\u00a0or call their municipality or the Chester County Solid Waste Authority at 610-273-3771 ext. *228.
