NORRISTOWN\u2014Despite all of the x\u2019s and o\u2019s, hours spent in then gym running suicides and countless time preparing the execution of a game plan, when it comes right down to it basketball is still a game where height and size matter.<\/p>\n

A fact that was reinforced on Saturday afternoon, as the Red Raiders \u00a0run through the PIAA State class AAAA playoffs came fell short of the final four in with an 87-46 loss to defending state champion Chester, who only has three players on their entire roster that are under six feet tall, at Norristown Area High School.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were huge,\u201d said Coatesville senior guard Kriston Miller. \u201cMan it\u2019s hard to penetrate the lane against such big guy, They may be able to be beaten, but who ever does it will have to play a perfect game, we did a good job for three quarters and it doesn\u2019t look close on the scoreboard.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Clippers, who pushed their season mark to 30-0, got off to a 15-2 start fueled by 6\u2019 7\u201d junior guard Rondae Jefferson, posting eight of his game high 21 points in the opening frame, in which Chester\u2019s only weakness was their 3-of-10 shooting from the charity stripe.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe missed a couple of shots early, which gave them the momentum,\u201d added Miller who has been the team\u2019s leading scorer though out the state playoffs. \u201cLetting them get the lead just makes it harder since they are so big inside. It was great to have such a run in the state playoffs after missing 17 games this season, I was glad just to be able to help the team in some way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coatesville (25-7) got it going offensively in the second quarter and had a chance to cut the Clippers lead to single digits following three pointers by Tymeir Miller and Andre Boggs, but Chester got a couple of bombs from beyond the arc of their own from junior guard Darius Robinson to preserve a 16-point edge as the teams headed to locker rooms.<\/p>\n

The Red Raiders again narrowed the gap to 11 points at the beginning of the second half, but following back-to back threes by Robinson and power slam by Jefferson which put Chester up 42-23, the defending champs never looked back en route to a 25 point quarter, pushing the game out of reach 61-42 after three periods of play.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe gave it our all out there,\u201d said sophomore forward Tyler Burke, who had the un enviable task of battling Jefferson and 6\u2019 6\u201d junior Richard Granberry in the paint.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to find a way to box them out better, they will be back next year and we have to find a way to bet them to move on.\u201d<\/p>\n

With Coatesville graduating seniors Nixon, Darryl Gaffney, and Tymeir and Kriston Miller and Chester losing only senior Erikk Wright and Robinson, which saw a lot of playing time, the likely hood of the District One titans having a rematch down the road is very probable.<\/p>\n

The nucleus of Andre Boggs, Burke, Emmett Hunt, Leroy Hoggard, Chris Jones and\u00a0\u00a0 Eric Trowery, who were all vital cogs in this season success will have another year of working together on the baseball field and gridiron to get ready for another Ches-Mont season and run at the state title.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am excited already about next year,\u201d added Burke. \u201cWe all work together all year long and are so close as a team, hopefully we will use this experience to build on next year and get0 right back here.\u201d<\/p>\n
