The Coatesville Bureau of Fire wants to remind residents that free smoke detectors are available by calling 610-384-0300, ext. 3101.<\/p><\/div>\n

The Coatesville Bureau of Fire, along with the Brandywine YMCA and Community Youth and Woman\u2019s Alliance (CYWA), are pleased to announce their partnership to make the Coatesville area a safer community.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the Coatesville Bureau of Fire is hosting \u201cFire Safety Day Camp\u201d for the city\u2019s youth registered with the YMCA or CYWA 2013 Coatesville Summer Camp.<\/p>\n

The event will consist of a morning and an afternoon session and will run from 8:30 a.m. until about 3:30 p.m. In addition to fire safety lecture and hands-on fire safety instruction, the participants will have the opportunity to practice their safety skills in a fire-safety trailer and a 911 emergency phone call simulator. Firefighters will be present and fire apparatus will staged for viewing as well as question and answers.<\/p>\n

The Coatesville Police Department will also be on hand to share child identification kits. \u2028All participants will be provided a fire safety camp t-shirt and a pizza party for lunch.<\/p>\n

The partnership would like to thank the following sponsors for making the event possible: West End Fire Company #3, \u2028Marco Fire Suppression, \u2028Coatesville Professional Firefighters IAFF L-3790, \u2028New Holland Auto Group, \u2028Washington Hose Company #1, \u202810-8 Emergency Vehicle Service, \u2028and the Kennett Square Fire Company, for the use of their Fire Safety Trailer.<\/p>\n

\u201cHistorically the bureau has always reached out to the city\u2019s youth to deliver important fire safety information. This year we took advantage of the coordinated programs of the CYWA and the YMCA and scheduled a whole day of activity,” explained Coatesville Interim Fire Chief Jim Lentz. “The information is important for all ages, but in my experience, the children at younger ages actually absorb more of the safety message and bring it home! It is our hope that they will share it with the other members of their family and help us make them fire safe!\u201d<\/p>\n
