Staff, board seeking volunteers to assist with Labor Day weekend spruce-up\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Coatesville Area Public Library is seeking some TLC for the facility in preparation for its 40th anniversary.<\/p><\/div>\n

To celebrate its upcoming 40th<\/sup> anniversary in a style befitting its service to the community, the Coatesville Area Public Library (CAPL) could use some TLC, and fortunately some local businesses agree.<\/p>\n

With furniture reminiscent of the 1970s, walls that haven\u2019t been painted in years, and a carpet that is well past its prime, the challenge is great, but the response to the beautification project has been as well.<\/p>\n

Rolando Romero from Romero’s Pro Painting\u00a0in Coatesville has agreed to donate his time to paint the entire top floor of the library over the course of the next several weekends.\u00a0 In fact, when asked, Romero said he felt a \u201cduty to give back to the library\u201d because it was there that he took English language lessons after moving to the area from Mexico.<\/p>\n

Along with paint donations from Ace Hardware and Hatt’s True Value\u00a0in Thorndale, and new area rugs from the \u00a0Habitat for Humanity ReStore\u00a0in Coatesville, changes in the weeks and months to come should prove exciting.<\/p>\n

The public\u2019s help is needed, too. On Labor Day weekend, the library board and staff will host its first Community Work Day. So far, about 20 community members have agreed to help, but other residents, community leaders, or service organizations interested in assisting would be welcomed. In addition, the library asking any residents or local business owners who might have suggestions for improvement, ideas regarding new program offerings or innovations to stop by, take a look around, and send any correspondence to Matthew Lapp at mlapp@coatesvillearealibrary.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As always, the mission of the CAPL is to provide opportunities for educational enrichment and personal development for the residents of Coatesville and its surrounding areas.\u00a0 With the help of the community, the board and staff said they will continue to fulfill this mission for another 40 years and beyond.<\/p>\n
