SUV’s traveling wrong way got officers’ attention

 Traffic offense led to drunken-driving arrest, police said

Image 2 A black Isuzu SUV traveling in the wrong direction in the 300 block of East Chestnut Street led to a drunken-driving arrest on Sunday, police said.

At 2:08 a.m., Officer Jonathan Shave stopped Ruban A. Mendoza, 19, of Coatesville, who exhibited signs of intoxication, police said. Mendoza was cited for driving under the influence and multiple traffic offenses, police said.

A traffic stop at 12:52 p.m. on Saturday by Det. Shannon Miller and Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie in the 600 block of Coates Street resulted in drug charges, police said. After viewing several traffic violations, the officers detained a vehicle driven by Sean McNeil, 22, of Coatesville, police said.

McNeil and Christian H. Lauren, 24, of Coatesville, had narcotics “in plain view of both officers,” police said. They were both charged with drug offenses, and McNeil also received traffic citations, police said. The vehicle’s owner,

Harold Smith IV, 21, of Coatesville, was cited under the- Motor Vehicle Code for permitting violation of title, police said.

On Sunday at 8:40 p.m., Cpl. Ken Michels saw a female walking in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway with a staggered gait, police said. After stopping Linda C. Terry, of Coatesville, Michels said she exhibited multiple signs of intoxication and was cited for public drunkenness and released to a relative, police said.

On Saturday at 10:35 p.m., Officer Rob Kuech was dispatched to a reported hit and run accident in the 200 block of Fleetwood Street, police said. Upon investigation, Kuech identified Brandi Green of Coatesville as the operator of the striking vehicle, and she was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked, and traffic offenses, police said.

Also on Saturday, a 23-year-old Coatesville man with outstanding warrants reacted by running when he saw Coatesville police Officer Kirt Guyer and Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie, who caught up with Vernon Folks, 22, of Coatesville, and took him into custody in the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway at 1:13 p.m.  Officers found two different types of controlled substances in Folks’ possession; he was sent to the Chester County Prison on two bench warrants, and the drug charges were filed in district court, police said.
