Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Chester County to perform comic opera
The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Chester County wants area residents to get a taste of “Patience,” its latest main-stage presentation.
An entertaining look at popular culture, “Patience” focuses on a group of young ladies obsessed with the latest trends and rapturously pining after two unattainable, free-spirited poets. Unfortunately, both of the poets are in love with Patience, a simple girl who cares nothing for poetry and fleeting fads. In the meantime, the girls have military suitors who don’t see the point of pop culture, but decide to give it a try to win the women’s hearts, setting up a series of twists and turns in this comic opera.
Performances will be held in the Madeleine Wing Adler Theatre at West Chester University on Feb. 6 and 7 at 8 p.m.; Feb. 8 at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Feb. 9 at 2 p.m.
Advance-sale tickets are $19 for adults, $16 for seniors, and $7 for children aged 6 to 21. For more information, visit http://www.gsschesco.org/patience2014.htm.
