City police take 15-year-old girl into custody

She is accused of shoplifting and assaulting store employee

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERACoatesville Police responded to the Coatesville Community Market in the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway for a theft complaint on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 5:41 p.m., Officer Jose Colon reported. Upon investigation, police said they took a 15-year-old girl, who was not identified because of her age, into custody for retail theft and assaulting a store employee.

On Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 3:03 p.m., Cpl. Ken Michels and Officer Jose Colon took Thomas Johnson into custody in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway, police said. Johnson, 37, of Coatesville, who had three bench warrants, was taken to the station without incident and transported to Chester County Prison by constables, police said.

On Sunday, Jan. 19, at 8:04 p.m., Officer Carmen Mollichella conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being operated by Zachariah Airington, 37, of Andover, Kan., police said. While Airington was traveling northbound on Pennsylvania Avenue, he stopped for the red light at East Lincoln Highway but proceeded to turn left while the light was still red, police said. When Airington was pulled over, Mollichella saw an open beer bottle in plan view and cited Airington for the red light violation as well as the violation of the city’s open-container ordinance, police said.
