City police: Retailer robbed at gunpoint

Two men reportedly pointed weapon at store clerk Tuesday night, fled with $500

IMG_0485Coatesville Police responded to a dispatch at 9:28 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, that two men inside the Valley Mart were pointing a gun at the store clerk, Officer Joseph Norcini reported. Upon arrival, officers heard a description of the suspects: a light-skinned black male approximately 5-foot-8 wearing a black jacket, grey sweatpants, and a black and white scarf covering his nose and mouth, and a dark-skinned black male about 5-foot-6 wearing a black jacket, black pants, and a black scarf or mask covering his nose and mouth, police said.

The alleged robbers took approximately $500 from the cash registers and fled from the convenience store and gas station, which is located in the 100 block of Strode Avenue; they were last seen heading westbound on Valley Road, police said. Coatesville units were dispatched to the 400 block of Victoria Drive at 5:58 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, for a theft complaint, Officer Paul Antonucci reported. The victim said when she came outside to her unlocked vehicle in the morning, she noticed that its hood was up and her battery had been stolen, police said. At 6:30 a.m., an alleged victim in the 500 block of Victoria Drive reported that an unlocked vehicle parked overnight had been ransacked, and the steering column was ripped out, police said. Coatesville Police responded to the 100 block of South Eighth Avenue on Monday, Jan. 27, at 5:42 p.m. for a complaint about a fence being knocked down, Officer Paul Antonucci reported. The victim stated that he saw an older black truck leaving the area but did not see anything else, police said, adding that an investigation is continuing.
