To The Editor:
As the City of Coatesville gets ready to celebrate its first one hundred years as a city, the members of City Council and I are working hard to position the city for the start of its next century. Our recent work to produce a budget with no tax increase is the first step in that process. We want to keep our existing residents, so Council must be mindful of the impact that taxes have on them.
Because we want to attract new residents and businesses, we also must be attentive to what our actions say to them. If we are going to succeed in making Coatesville a city that can compete for new residents and businesses in the challenging environment of the 21st century, it’s imperative that we get our own house in order.
I’m honored to be President of Coatesville City Council, and with my fellow Council members will continue to challenge the status quo in the City. We no longer do things just because “that’s the way it’s always been done”. Every day we are looking for ways to do things better and more efficiently. For our city to be successful, this is the approach we must take.
We’re off to a good start in this process, but this is only the beginning, and there is much more to be done. As we look back and celebrate the successes of the City’s first one hundred years in the coming weeks and months, please know that we will also be working to establish new partnerships, strengthen current relationships, and put all the necessary pieces in place that will allow Coatesville to flourish in the second century.
Willing Servant,
Linda Lavender Norris
President
Coatesville City Council
