12 hurt in school bus/truck collision

PoliceTapeVALLEY — Ten South Brandywine Middle School students and two adults were injured Thursday afternoon, after the bus they were traveling in collided with a tractor trailer on Lincoln Highway, near Chester County Airport.

The students were all transported to Brandywine Hospital for treatment for what were termed minor injuries, with the remainder of the students transferred to a second bus to complete the ride home. The drive of bus, whose extent of injuries was unclear, was also taken to Brandywine Hospital. The driver of the truck, unidentified as yet, was taken to Paoli Hospital.

The incident appeared to have occurred just after 2:30 p.m., resulting in the closure of the roadway for about 2 1/2 hours as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene and treat the injured. The Westwood and Sadsburyville fire departments responded, along with ambulances from Westwood, Coatesville, Modena, Downingtown and Brandywine Medic.
