8-year-old Keira Ollis recently volunteered her time by painting over a graffiti tag at the corner of Newlinville Road and South First Avenue in Coatesville.

COATESVILLE – As most children are spending their summers at the pool or playing at the park, 8-year-old Keira Ollis is looking for her next volunteer project to help beautify Coatesville.

Ollis has been seen lending a helping hand throughout the year at many events around the city. On Make A Difference Day, Ollis helped plant fall mums and painted benches, tables and sidewalk games at Ash Park.

Ollis loves to plant flowers and spray the weeds in the gardens throughout the city.

As part of the Coatesville Area School District’s Martin Luther King Day of Service in January, Ollis assisted volunteers with clean up at the Catherine Twomey house for Home of the Sparrow.

Most recently, Ollis can be found planting flowers and weeding gardens and helping remove graffiti, in and around the city.

Coatesville City Council members honored 8-year-old Keira Ollis for her volunteer efforts in the city at their meeting Monday night.

City council president Linda Lavender- Norris presented Ollis with an award in recognition of her efforts to beautify the city.
