Auto dealership racing to assist nonprofit

‘Car-B-Que’ will donate funds to Coatesville Youth Initiative

A Thorndale car dealer has discovered an ideal vehicle geared to attract auto fans and help a community organization at the same time.

Rocky Pirrone’s Boss Hydro is one of the vehicles that will be featured at the “Car-B-Que.”

Del Auto Group in Thorndale is sponsoring the Second Annual “Car-B-Que” to benefit the Coatesville Youth Initiative, a program under the auspices of the Brandywine Health Foundation.

From 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, the dealership on E. Lincoln Highway in Thorndale will jam its parking lot with race cars, hot rods, nitro funny cars, gassers, street rods and more, promising that “featured cars will be fired up throughout the night.” From Rob Bundy’s Shellshock Vega to Rocky Pirrone’s Boss Hydro, car fans should get their fill.

Admission is complimentary; donations, food, raffles and auctions will help raise funds for the Coatesville Youth Initiative, which collaborates with community groups and residents, youth, area businesses, nonprofit and county agencies, the Coatesville Area School District and other education entities.

Created in 2009 after a year-long planning process commissioned by the Brandywine Health Foundation, the Coatesville Youth Initiative focuses on programs to meet the needs of youth and young adults, ages 12 to 24, in the Coatesville area.
