Authorities said today that the multiple individuals responsible for what has been classified as a fatal home invasion left investigators with evidence likely to incriminate them: DNA.

Police said Dominique Williams, 22, was fatally shot about 12:15 a.m. Friday at a residence in the 700 block of Merchant Street. Hogan said Coatesville police and Chester County detectives are pursuing “strong leads.”

“There were multiple actors involved, but only one shooter,” Hogan said.  “We will have DNA evidence from items that police recovered.  We also are receiving significant information from other sources.”

Hogan said the crime could result in life sentences or even the death penalty for those involved.

“However, because there was only one shooter, the other perpetrators still have a chance to help themselves,” he said.  “They can come forward now or they can wait for us to track them down.”

The residence,  described as being located in a high-crime area of the city, was targeted, Hogan said. “This was not a random act of violence,” he added, declining to specify who was in the home and what, if anything, was taken.

Anyone with information should contact Chester County Detective Butch Dutter at 610-344-5100 or Coatesville Detective Kevin Campbell at 610-384-2300.
