Dr. Mian A. Jan was installed as the new President of the Chester County Medical Society at the association’s annual Legislative Clam Bake which was held September 16, 2016 at the Radley Run Country Club in West Chester.
Dr. Jan was installed by outgoing CCMS President Winslow W. Murdoch, M.D. as over one hundred sixty physician members and guests gathered for the event.
Dr. Jan is a board certified interventional cardiologist who is the President of West Chester Cardiology and the current Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Chester County Hospital in West Chester. He also serves as the President of the medical staff at Life Care Hospital of Chester County and on the Board of Trustees of the Chester County Historical Society.
Throughout his career Dr. Jan has received many awards for patient care as well as for his contributions to social issues. An active member of the Chester County community, Dr. Jan has been recognized for his work teaching patients and healthcare personnel about women and heart disease, metabolic syndrome, risk factor modification, coronary artery disease and recent advances in cardiology.
At the Clam Bake guests heard from a number of local elected officials. including three US Congressmen, many state senators and representatives and also from county commissioners. Congressman Joseph Pitts received a special recognition award from the medical society for an outstanding career in public service as an advocate for the doctor-patient relationship.
The society also presented the annual William Darlington Memorial Scholarship to West Chester University pre-med student Waneeza Mughees, (photo attached).
Dr. Jan also announced setting up Mian A. Jan Scholarship for a deserving West Chester University pre-med student starting in 2017.
