Three Boy Scouts from Unionville’s Troop 22 were honored for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in a ceremony on February 9, 2020, at Unionville Presbyterian Church. Nathan Ganti, Sam Jokhi, and Ryan Helle are seniors at Unionville High School in Kennett Square.

Ryan Helle, son of Jennifer and Sean Helle, replaced seven carnival games and backdrops for the Patton Middle School Spring Carnival for his Eagle Project. Ryan served in several troop leadership positions, including Senior Patrol Leader. His most memorable experiences in Scouting include two hiking trips at the Philmont Ranch in New Mexico. At school, he has been active in Unionville Rowing Club, and National Honor Society. Ryan was honored to have his older brothers Chris and Brandon Helle, who earned their Eagle ranks in 2015 and 2011, serve as his Eagle Honor Guard.

Sam Jokhi, son of Havi and Khushru Jokhi, held basketball clinics at the Kennett YMCA for his Eagle Project. Sam served in several troop leadership positions, including one of his own invention—Troop Philosopher. Sam’s most memorable Scouting experiences include attending summer camp every summer and hiking at the Philmont Ranch in New Mexico. Sam plays varsity soccer for Unionville High School. He is vice president of the Future Business Leaders of America and co-chairman for UTHON, which raises money for pediatric cancer. He is also active in the Spanish Honor Club and National Honor Society. Sam’s older brother Kayzad Jokhi, who earned his Eagle rank in 2015, served as his Eagle Honor Guard.

Nathan Ganti, son of Paige and Ravi Ganti, installed a 30’ flagpole and landscaping at Newlin Township’s voting location for his Eagle Project. Nathan served in several troop leadership positions, including Senior Patrol Leader. His favorite Scouting memories are being an instructor for National Youth Leadership Training, visiting Mohonk Preserve in New York several times, and hiking at Philmont Scout Ranch. Nathan is active in Unionville High School’s band programs, playing trumpet in marching band, symphonic and jazz bands. He also participates in spring track and field, and is a member of National Honor Society. Kerry Blecher, who was awarded his Eagle rank in 2017, served as Nathan’s Eagle Honor Guard.

Troop 22 has been serving Unionville since 1924, and has seen almost 200 Boy Scouts achieve their Eagle rank with the troop. For more information, visit www.troop22upa.com.
