Two Chester County artists opening solo shows

Each will run for month at the Chester County Art Association

“Runnymeade” by Richard Chalfant will be featured at the Chester County Art Association.

Two diverse Chester County artists will open solo shows Friday that will run through Nov. 9 at the Chester County Art Association.

A free reception will be held tomorrow from 5 to 8 p.m., offering the public a preview of the works by Richard Chalfant and Dane Tilghman, who has Coatesville ties.

Chalfant’s exhibit, titled “Between Heaven and Earth,” features subjects that range from quiet, rural Chester County landscapes to views of the Grand Canyon to highly charged large-scale works which seem almost epic.

Dane Tilghman’s show is a retrospective. His work, which is often commissioned,  showcases his distinctive style, described as a mix of realism,  surrealism and primitive elongation.

The Chester County Art Association is located at 100 N. Bradford Ave., West Chester. Gallery hourse are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. It is a nonprofit, cultural organization that promotes participation in the arts through quality instruction, exhibitions and community outreach.  CCAA believes that art does make a difference and has enhanced the community by involving people of all ages and aspirations in the arts since 1931. For more information about exhibits and classes, call 610-696-5600.
