The Coatesville Farmers’ Market, which has been introducing area residents to fresh, local culinary fare all summer, is partnering with the Coatesville Community Education Foundation this Saturday for a program of child-friendly activities.

The “ Lights On After School Celebration”  – designed to promote after school programs – will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 pm. at the Coatesville Farmers’ Market, located at Gateway Park, near the intersection of Lincoln Highway and Rt. 82.

Parents, children, community leaders, elected officials and volunteers will converge to showcase programs such as the Art of Hope,  a foundation-sponsored series of children’s workshops on topics ranging from art to therapeutic horseback riding to robotics. Residents will also have a chance to learn about “Soccer for Success,” a nutrition and exercise program led by Coatesville’s soccer star, J.T. Dorsey, who will attend the event.

Parents will have an opportunity to peruse the tempting offerings of the farmer’s market – from seasonal produce to Irie’s Jamaican cuisine to Hobo Ed’s Coatesville Community Coffee. And children will be able to participate in crafts and art projects and visit mini-horse from the Penn State Extensions’ 4-H Pony Partner Program.

The popularity of the farmers’ market has prompted organizers to extend its season until Nov. 17. In addition, winter pre-orders will be available for pickup every other Saturday from December through May from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information visit https://www.facebook.com/pages/Coatesville-Farmers-Market/172234489572582.
