COATESVILLE — Residents of Freedom Village at Brandywine in Coatesville, Pa., hosted a surprise birthday celebration on Sunday, October 31, 2021, to honor Freedom Village at Brandywine Resident Jack Freemann on his 100th birthday and pay tribute to his service in the military as the last remaining World War II Helldiver pilot from the USS Hancock.

Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan, who was in attendance at the celebration, also gave a speech and presented a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition to Freemann for his 100th birthday celebration and his service to America during World War II.

Many residents at Freedom Village at Brandywine collaborated in the organizing of the celebration for Jack’s 100th birthday in addition to honoring his service as a decorated Naval fighter pilot in the United States military.

“I am extremely grateful to my fellow residents and community for planning the celebration of my 100th birthday and service to our great country,” said Freemann. “As the last remaining World War II Helldiver pilot from the USS Hancock, I want to thank and recognize the brave men and women who have served in the United States military as we approach Veterans Day.”

“It was wonderful to see so many residents, families and staff, as well as Congresswoman Houlahan, celebrate Jack and come together in honor of his service,” said Freedom Village at Brandywine Resident Edward Ferrari.
