The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) recently received national recognition for its communication efforts. The National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) awarded the CCIU’s communication department with five awards for its work during the 2021-22 school year, including a Golden Achievement Award, and four Publications and Digital Media Awards.
“We are honored to have received this wonderful recognition from the National School Public Relations Association,” said Dr. George F. Fiore, executive director of the CCIU.
“Our communication team does an outstanding job in collaboratively developing communications for the betterment of our organization and all that we serve. The CCIU is extremely proud of our communications department and thankful for this recognition.”
The CCIU received a Golden Achievement Award for its Team CCIU Human Resources Marketing Campaign: Brighter Futures Together, a successful campaign that focused on staff recruitment and retainment. The Golden Achievement Award is granted to schools and districts that display exemplary work in all aspects of school public relations, communication, marketing and engagement.
Within the Publications and Digital Media Awards category, the CCIU was recognized for the following publications: the 2022-24 TCHS Course Catalog (Award of Excellence), the CCIU 2021-22 Activities Calendar (Award of Merit), the CCIU 2020-21 Annual Report (Honorable Mention), and the CCIU Legislative Quarterly Report (Honorable Mention). These awards are granted to schools and districts with outstanding educational publications; marketing and informational materials; video, tv and radio programs; social media channels; and/or websites.
CCIU staff accepting the awards include Ashley Boyd, Erin Britton, Jennifer Chicosky, Lauren Critelli, Tonia Farnum, Laura Huff, Melissa Smith and Haley Taylor.
“I am truly privileged to work with an outstanding and talented team of communication professionals,” said Mary Jeanne Curley, director of CCIU Communications and Learning Solutions. “Their creativity is inspiring. Their work is exemplary and it is most importantly instrumental in CCIU meeting its strategic objectives.”
According to Curley, the “Brighter Futures” recruitment campaign led to a significant increase in applicants and web traffic. After conducting the campaign for two months, the CCIU saw “an 8% increase in job applications,” said Curley.
