Downingtown Country Club recently completed several significant course renovations aimed at enhancing overall playability and improving course conditions for all golfers. Beginning in 2022, The club has added drainage, cleaned up bunkers, and, most recently, undertook a tree removal program and added and resurfaced nine tee boxes.
Eliminating the traditional labels placed on tees, Downingtown has adopted TEE IT FORWARD, which is a joint initiative between the USGA and The PGA of America that encourages players to play from the set of tees best suited to their individual driving distance. All tee markers are now labeled I, II, III, IV and V rather than color coded.
In addition to providing more enjoyment for golfers, teeing it forward also can be an important steps that golfers take in improving pace of play, according to Andrew Braun, Downingtown CC Director of Golf. “We accommodate over 40,000 rounds annually, and pace of play is vital to the overall guest experience,” said Braun.
“It is important that Downingtown be continually enhancing playability for golfers of all levels and swing speeds,” said BJ Jaworski, President of Ron Jaworski Golf. “The new tees will allow our golfers to play the course from 4,500 yards to almost 7,000 yards in accordance with their unique playing ability and distance factors.”
