Coatesville woman’s charges include child endangerment

State police said she drove drunk with 3-year-old passenger

State police from the Embreeville barracks said a 25-year-old Coatesville woman traveling with a 3-year-old was drunk when she lost control of her 2011 Chevrolet on Nov. 21 in Atglen.

Police said Lauren J. McKinley was traveling north on Swan Road near Upper Valley Road, failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, and traveled into the southbound lane, striking a 2000 Ford.  Both drivers were transported to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment, and both vehicles sustained disabling damage, police said, adding that the child, who was in a safety seat, was not injured.

Charges against McKinley include driving under the influence, endangering the welfare of a child, and traffic offenses; a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 24, court records said.

A 72-year-old Coatesville man was severely injured in a one-vehicle crash on Dec. 15 at 10:32 p.m. Police said Kenneth R. Ricketts was traveling west on Strasburg Road, west of Romansville Road, when his front driver’s-side tire blew out, and he lost control of his 1995 Lincoln.  Ricketts’ vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane, striking a utility pole and then a tree; he was transported to Paoli Memorial Hospital, police said.

Police are investigating an incident of vandalism that occurred Dec. 8 sometime between 1 and 9:40 p.m. in West Sadsbury Township. Police said a vehicle’s paint was damaged in the 3900 block of West Lincoln Highway.

Two Coatesville residents were charged last month with drunken-driving in separate incidents, state police said. Jeffery D. Supplee, 25, was arrested on Nov. 22 at 2:11 a.m. on Lincoln Highway at Rt. 82, and Ralph S. Weidamoyer Jr., 46, was cited on Nov. 17 at 1:52 p.m. on the Rt. 30 bypass, west of Lancaster Avenue in East Caln Township, police said.
