An installation by an artistic team from the Chester County Art Association, entitled “Hockney’s Haven” and inspired by a David Hockney painting, will be displayed at the 2013 Philadelphia Flower Show.

When the 2013 Philadelphia Flower Show opens Saturday, March 2, in the city’s Convention Center, Chester County will be well-represented, providing tasteful and tasty additions to the annual rite of spring and fund-raiser.

In addition to a host of individual and garden-club exhibitors, two area restaurants will be featured, and the Chester County Art Association will showcase an exhibit for the seventh time. The art association’s installation,  based on the painting “Arrival of Spring in Woldgate” by David Hockney, an English artist, will appear in the Garden Gate Division. The British theme for this year’s show is “Brilliant!”

Entitled “Hockney’s Haven,” the exhibit uses woodland plant material, metalwork vines and gates, vividly painted saplings, and clay and glass leaves to bring Hockney’s masterpiece to life. Contributing artists included Alan Andersen, Karen Delaney, Darcie Goldberg, Rhoda Kahler, Susan Pope, Kim Sward and Michelle Venema.

Chef Wyatt Lash from the Whip Tavern will be among the chefs appearing at the 2013 Philadelphia Flower Show.

Wyatt Lash from The Whip Tavern in Coatesville and Aimee Oxley from Talula’s Table in Kennett Square will be among the “culinary wizards” presented during the Garden to Table Studio offering. Sponsored by Organic Gardening magazine, the program will feature accomplished chefs revealing insider tips for creating their favorite dishes with organic, local ingredients.

Oxley is scheduled for an appearance on Monday at 1 p.m., and Lash will work his magic with classic oxtail on Friday, March 8, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Other well-known chefs slated to participate include Marc Vetri, Daniel Stern and Edward Lee.
