Alleged, reckless dirt-bike driving leads to trouble

On Wednesday, Coatesville Cpl. Ken Michels and Officer Rob Kuech observed a blue and white Yamaha dirt bike being operated recklessly by a male juvenile in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway, police said.

Using emergency lights and sirens, the officers attempted to stop the operator, who was not wearing a helmet and abandoned the bike in the area of South Sixth Avenue and Olive Street, police said. Further investigation revealed that the bike was stolen and information on the suspect was forwarded to the county’s Juvenile Probation Department, police said.

Officer Brenden M. Boyle was dispatched to the 600 block of Olive Street on Thursday for the reported theft of a washer and dryer, police said.  The victim said the set – a white Whirlpool top-loading washer and front-loading dryer valued together at $300 – was removed from a rented storage garage, police said.

Cpl. Larry Cooper observed Alan. C. Smith, 57, of Maple Avenue in Coatesville, operating a vehicle without headlights at South Fourth Avenue and Lincoln Highway on Thursday at 9:31 p.m., police said. After a traffic stop, Smith, who allegedly had a suspended driver’s license, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence, police said.

Alfred T. Greene, 55, of Ridge Avenue in Coatesville, was cited by Officer Jonathan Shave for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, police said.  Greene was observed urinating on a bush next to a public building and stumbling after being stopped on Thursday at 11:22 p.m. in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway, police said.

On Friday at 3:39 a.m., Officer Jonathan Shave was dispatched to the area of 345 E. Chestnut St. for suspicious activity in a vehicle. After finding two Coatesville residents, Gary L. White Jr., 28, of East Chestnut Street, and Marian Artis, 42, of Oak Street, engaged in what appeared to be sexual activity, the officer cited them for disorderly conduct.
