Police said drugs were found when Dominique Lee was arrested in Nov. on unrelated warrant
A little more than four months ago, Coatesville police conducted a traffic stop that led to an arrest on a warrant as well as new charges for a teen who is also implicated in a 2012 homicide.
Officer Jonathan Shave detained Dominique M. Lee, 19, in the 600 block of Belmont Street on Nov. 17 at 7:42 p.m., where the officer observed signs that narcotics might be inside the vehicle. Shave obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and suspected narcotics were seized, police said. On Tuesday, police received the lab results, indicating the substances were marijuana and crack cocaine, police said.
Lee, along with Marquis Rayner, 23, and Camren Horne, 20, is awaiting a preliminary hearing on homicide charges. The three are accused of entering the home of Dominique Williams in the 700 block of Merchant Street on June 29 and fatally shooting him while he was playing video games with a friend, according to the criminal complaint.
In other police news, a man who is not being identified by police, reported that he was walking in the 600 block of Lumber Street on Tuesday at 11:28 p.m. when a white sedan pulled up and two men exited and demanded money, according to Officer Brenden M. Boyle. When the victim resisted, he was stabbed twice in the abdomen, police said, adding that the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. The assailants were last seen traveling eastbound on Lumber Street, and an investigation is continuing, police said.
John Beckett, 49, of Coatesville, was taken into custody by Officer Kirt Guyer on Tuesday at 9:10 a.m., police said. Beckett had a warrant for failing to appear at a court hearing, police said.
Shayana Gaines, 22, of Coatesville, was cited on Tuesday for harassment by Officer Jonathan Shave, police said. A woman reported that Gaines repeatedly followed her on her way home from school, police said.
Charges are pending further investigation into a hit-and-run accident on Tuesday at 10:02 p.m., police said. Officer Brenden M. Boyle responded to the unit block of Chester Avenue, where the victim reported that a vehicle involved in a collision failed to stop and proceeded northbound on Chester Avenue, police said. Police, acting on the victim’s description, said the striking vehicle was located unoccupied several blocks away.
State police from the Embreeville barracks responded to a single-car crash on the Rt. 30 Bypass in Caln Township on Monday.
Police said Kelsey R. Monarch, 24, was traveling eastbound in the left lane in a 1996 Nissan Altima, spun counter-clockwise onto the left shoulder, struck the center guide rail and came to rest facing westbound. Police, who cited her for speeding, said her car sustained disabling damage to the front bumper and passenger-side quarter panel. Monarch, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured, police said.
