Alleged careless driving leads to drug charges

Police said two West Chester residents arrested for possession with intent to deliver

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA vehicle stop for alleged careless driving on Wednesday at 2:13 a.m. on Strode Avenue at West Lincoln Highway led to multiple charges for a trio of West Chester residents, Coatesville police said.

Coatesville Cpl. Ken Michels and Officer Rob Kuech found the driver Jose Flecha, 26, operating the vehicle with a suspended license and not wearing a seat belt. Officers also observed in plain view a clear plastic bag containing suspected rock cocaine, U.S. currency, and several pink baggies commonly used to package and transport illegal narcotics, police said.

Officers also located a clear zip-lock bag containing five heat sealed baggies each containing suspected rock cocaine in the back-seat compartment where David Richardson, 28, and Jerone Washington, 28, were seated. Richardson and Washington were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, conspiracy and related offenses, police said.

On Wednesday at 9:46 a.m., Officer David Marquette served a warrant on Darryl Naylor, 52,at North Sixth Avenue after a traffic stop, police said, adding that Naylor was also cited for drug possession.

Officer Kirt Guyer observed Candice Huston, 25, of Coatesville in the 600 block of Belmont Avenue on Wednesday at 12:01 p.m. and took her into custody on an active bench warrant out of Prince Georges County, Md., for failure to appear at a court hearing, police said. She was arraigned as a fugitive from justice and sent to Chester County Prison on $5,000 cash bail as well as the Maryland detainer, police said.

Cpl. Jeffrey lngemie conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of South Fourth Avenue on Wednesday at 1:07 p.m., police said. The passenger, who was advised that she was under official police investigation, gave a false name, police said. She was identified by another officer as Michelle Adderton, 41, with no permanent address and arrested on an. outstanding bench warrant and false identification charges, police said.

Officer David Marquette had contact with Brittany Fuller on Wednesday at 4:46 p.m. at East Chestnut Street and North Seventh Avenue, police said. Fuller was taken into custody on an active warrant and also charged with narcotics and drug paraphernalia possession, police said.

On Wednesday, Officer Sylvester Earle was dispatched to the 600 block of West Lincoln Highway for a harassment complaint, police said. After investigation, Edward Carter, 48, was cited for harassment that occurred March 24 at 7:43 a.m. on an online social-networking site.
