39-year-old Coatesville mother charged with assaulting daughter
On Thursday at 10:13 p.m., Officer Brenden M. Boyle responded a residence in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway for a report of a domestic disturbance between a mother and daughter. The investigation revealed that Tiffany Pennington, 39, had thrown a dinner plate at the girl, causing a laceration to her right leg, police said.
The girl was transported to Brandywine Hospital where she received 12 sutures and 27 staples, police said. Pennington was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, endangering the welfare of a child and related offenses, and the Chester County Department of Children Youth and Families was notified, police said.
At 7:38 p.m. on Thursday, Cpl. Ken Michels and Officer Rob Kuech were dispatched to the 500 block of Walnut Street for a report of a burglary. The resident said that between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. someone entered his home and removed an XBOX 360 and a laptop computer, valued at $1,570, police said, adding they found no signs of forced entry.
Several hours later, the same officers responded to a residence in the unit block of Pennsylvania Avenue at 10:34 p.m. in response to a complaint about a man repeatedly ringing a doorbell, police said. Police charged Tyrone Ellerby, 53, of Coatesville, with public drunkenness after observing obvious signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and glassy eyes.
Kenneth R. Thompson, 21, listed as homeless, surrendered to Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie at the police station on Thursday at 10:50 a.m., police said. Thompson was wanted on several warrants: one for gun possession and one for violating the noise ordinance, both in Coatesville; and one for simple assault in South Coatesville, police said. He was released after posting 10 percent of $10,000 bail on both criminal warrants and given a court date for the noise summary, to which he pleaded not guilty, police said.
